Rescue banditfox April 8 2007, 23:31:23 UTC
Kurama woke to the sound of fighting, still warded, still bound, and still alive. It took a moment for him to process the last of those realizations, because he couldn't quite remember why it was important. Where were his friends? He could feel none of their signatures, except ... Was Hiei nearby? The kitsune managed to roll to his knees before weakness and dizziness forced him to stop and gather himself.

The others were missing, he suddenly remembered, because they were safely at home while he and Hiei were trapped in the City. He remembered Xulchibara and the ritual, and ground his teeth in frustration at his helplessness.

Ignoring everything that was happening below, Alexiel descended from the sky with Nanatsusaya on hand. This wasn't her battlefield, her right to fight but others and the former Great Organic angel respected that. She had come for something less violent, a promise of liberation.

Her aura was warm enough to provide the wounded fox some of the energy he lost back, her blade gave him freedom with a struck.

"Kurama. Arise."

The fox's head came up sharply as he felt Alexiel's aura lending him strength. His hands fell to his sides as the chains were cut, and he gingerly put out his good arm to push himself to his feet. He made it, somehow, although he swayed unsteadily, his broken arm cradled loosely against his broken ribs.

"Thank you."

The monster was finished, or as finished as Hiei cared to take part in. Now, the reason for his innitial appearence, where was Kurama? A quick survey of the area told him; Kurama wasn't very far off. He seemed slightly revivified, something had healed him.

Hiei flitted over to his partner, "Kurama," was all he said.

"Hiei." Kurama grimaced as his head swam, and he instinctively caught onto his friend's shoulder for balance. When his equilibrium returned, he mustered a smile for the other demon. "Did you kill something for me?" he asked casually, as if he wasn't standing at the site of a ritual sacrifice in torn, blood-soaked clothing.

Hiei slipped his free hand onto Kurama's lower arm, waiting for him to balance. It wasn't that he was worried for the fox, of course not. He simply wanted to keep his contacts. That was it.

And, in responce to Kurama's inquiry, he held up a recognisable segment of the Piramid Head's severed spine.

"Yes," he said.

A small laugh greeted this statement, though it ended in a wince as Kurama's ribs reminded him of their precarious state. "And Kuwabara wonders why I like working with you."

Although Alexiel's presence certainly helped, Kurama knew that it was a temporary solution. He was already growing tired. "If there is nothing left to be done, may I suggest we leave? I'd like to bleed to death elsewhere."

A smirk played across Hiei's countenance, "Kuwabara wonders about a great deal of things."

"I could cauterize the wound, but I doubt you would enjoy that," And with that, Hiei started to face the direction of their apartment, “Here,” he said, and shoved a wad of bandages into the fox’s hand.

Kurama raised an eyebrow at the bandages, then cast his dubious glance on Hiei. He sighed and shook his head before awkwardly stripping out of his shirt. "Hold an end," he ordered as he began to wrap his wounds with one hand. With luck, he'd finish or get Hiei to help before he passed out.

Hiei held the end of the bandage. He was feeling oddly cooperative, and even more oddly relieved.

"You have plants that would help the wound at home?"

"Yes, but I'll need you to help me set my arm." He fell silent as he concentrated on finishing with the wounds he could reach, and then displayed surprising proficiency at tying off the bandages one-handed. His knees buckled, and he caught himself on Hiei's shoulder again. "That can wait. Home first."

Hiei caught Kurama, however irksome as that was. Tying off what was left of the bandages, he nodded, "Yes, home," A nudge in the apartment's general direction, and Hiei started to walk.

Alexiel was very much as an endless supply of positive energy, she did not mind if Kurama borrowed some of the warmth to strengthen himself.

"Someone else will look for you." That was all she said before spreading her wings and taking off before Hiei's arrival.
