Odd night and free boots.

Cats

I had an odd evening last night. When I came in the door, Jessie was standing on the back of the big chair in the living room and my mind said Fred, and I missed him so much at that moment. I spent a good part of the evening hugging cats, because it's still sometimes hard to see the shadows of the departed in the ones still present (Ten has a remarkable talent for reminding me of her brother, which is surprising that she is very much her own cat, with a sense of humor and grace all her own. She does not mind if I sometimes need to cuddle with her and tell her that I miss Orpheus though). Later in the evening, Marlene went into the bedroom and climbed up on the bed, and we had a good chat about all of it.

It all left me feeling a little melancholy, so I made myself chocolate chip pancakes for dinner, because I'm an adult and can choose to do things like that.

Boots! Anybody want some boots?

So, as I mentioned in a previous post, I bought some boots I thought were going to be ideal granny boots, but when they arrived, they had more of a western point than I was expecting, and they didn't fit quite right (I think my feet might be a little on the narrow side). The company I bought them from seems to have a very fairly strict return policy about not accepting back any shoes with any signs of wear, and I put some light scuffing on the soles while I was walking around, trying to decide if I liked them. So I don't think I can return them to the store.

Since it's the holidays, I figured I might as well be generous and ask if anyone here wants them as a holiday present. Yes, for free. Because the world needs more random kindness, and if my boots could make someone's day, then I'd get more out of that then I would from the hassles involved in trying to sell them. And maybe someone out there really needs these boots and so these were really just stopping with me for a while.

The boots are Oak Tree Farm women's steeple lace up in brandy. They really are lovely:

details:
size 6
all leather exterior- good match for the picture, although the color is slightly more uniform and not as dark on the sides, more like the toe color.

notes from my own try at the shoes- they felt a little tight in the toes (although I might be off, because these are about as high of a rise as I've worn, so that might be normal) and looser around the ankles, so they might be a good fit for someone a 5 1/2 wide, if such feet exist and need boots. Or if you plan to wear them with thick socks.

I'd like to give them to someone local, because I'd like to have the recipient see them and try them on before deciding to take them (why repeat my mistake?). Local, for me, generally means anyone within an hour's drive of the DC-Baltimore area.

I'm making this post public. If you or someone you know in this area could provide a good home, let me know.

(next paycheck I'm buying something a little less granny and already have another pair picked out.)
