E Readers--advice from my FList, please

Jul 16, 2011 00:05

I've been thinking about getting an e-reader for a while. Our bookshelves are overflowing and I really don't have a place to put another. Plus, it'd be real handy to have lots of books in one little device, so I'm not trapped on a plane with nothing to read!

So I've been doing my research, and (I'm sure you're not surprised) I'm down to the Kindle and the Nook Touch. The Kindle is thinner and a hair narrower, the Nook is shorter and lighter. The Kindle has more memory (4 GB vs 2 GB), but the Nook can take an SD card. The Kindle plays mp3 files, the Nook can support books from local libraries. Amazon claims 950,000 titles, B&N claims over 2 million. The Nook has a touch screen, Amazon has their wishlists. Both have the same e-ink pearl screen, but the Nook has a shorter flash when you turn a page.

I've played a little with both of them, and it's a tough call. I'm sort of leaning towards the Nook, but I can't decide.

I've talked to friends with Kindles. Anyone have a Nook? Anyone have any advice or suggestions, either way? What say you, wise ones of the interwebs?
