Good morning, all three of you (or am I overguessing my readership again?).

Oh, we've been through this before, yes we have. It's 2:27 A.M., and I'm in the ol' hotseat at Breaking News Network, a.k.a. WORRRRRRRRKKKK!!, a.k.a. Freakin' Jersey. It is flipping cold outside, and I think there was actually some frozen drizzle before.

Anyway, working a double-shift, having been in since 4 P.M. If I were ambitious, and if no one were coming in at 8:00, I might try to break my previous record here of 21+ hours behind the desk, but it won't be happening. Have just returned from the gas station across Fletcher Avenue, where my lack of car probably made the attendants think they were about to be robbed, but the only victim here is the concept of hot coffee. Rather than going with something from a hot plate pitcher, I went with French Vanilla from the thermos-pump thing. It's not hot, and not particularly good. Hopefully the caffeine will be potent. It's nice to cross Fletcher Avenue with no fear of being run over.

So, anyway, I'm here, killing my internal clock because I need money. It's been a pretty good week of hitting stuff for Daily News, but nothing has been printed. The money's nice, but I'd like a picture in the paper to show for all the work. This morning, the housing projects were nice enough to leave their door open for me, thus giving me a 15-story high roof from which to shoot an overturned truck.

I couldn't cover the plane crash on 72nd Street Wednesday because it hit right when I had to start making my way into Jersey. Todd went, was roughed up by Lt. Whyte from DCPI, and had his press card pulled. "Gee, Todd, sounds like pulling your press card has become standard NYPD operating procedure. How many times has this been, now?" "Yeah, that's what [Daily News Director of Photography] Mike [Lipack] says!" Ah, Todd. The guy who taught me everything I know about news chasing, who once told me "arrests are badges of honor."

Wow, to be in Manhattan now. Second alarm transmitted on arrival for fire through the roof of a building at 70th St. and Park Avenue. Holy heck. Will finish this later.
