The Holidays!!

Okay so I feel really bad for this entry after reading my friend's page but here's my post Thanksgiving update. And let me tell you it'll be the exact opposite of everyone else's so far.

Okay so, for starters I finally got to start my new job out at AOP last Monday and it's been great. Granted I haven't done one assessment since I started but my co-workers are great and they are helping me out by showing me where stuff is and how things work and all that good stuff. So I've been keeping busy with little odds and ends things around the office. So Tuesday I really made a mess of the apartment by getting stuff to take to my new (really large) office and I also pulled out every freaking Christmas present I've bought and the wrapping materials that I bought while up in Chicago last weekend and promptly scattered 50 + gifts around the living room plus 25+ bows, 300+ feet of ribbon and 100 feet of wrapping paper. Needless to say it was quite the Santa's workshop. Oh shit, there's more gifts ... huh. *shrugs* Oh well, so anyway's ... I only ended up wrapping about 8 things and then getting the rest of the necessary items in their boxes that they needed and just this took me 4 hours. So feeling incredibly defeated (and having missed Kenny on the AMA's) I went to bed leaving the workshop in all of it's disasterous glory. Wednesday morning I got up at 6 am in order to shower and pack for home so that I could leave as soon as I walked out of my door at work. Work on Wednesday was pretty disappointing due to having my one assessment cancel. Or should I say just not show up. So anyway, I walked out the door at a quarter to 5 and headed up to my dad's. Wednesday night was pretty basic, accept that I was up talking to Jim till like midnight but even that was great. So then Turkey day I woke up 45 freakin' minutes early (a mistake I swear I will not repeat next year) in order to watch the Macy's Parade. So instead I drank too much coffee and watched the morning news and then the Parade. Post parade I had to run to my mom's because I forgot some stuff there last weekend. So I went over there for about an hour and a half and watched the post parade dog show with her. That was nice ... and I got no shit for not seeing her for Thanksgiving, which was even better!

So I ran back to dad's with enough time to have another cup of coffee before he and I headed to my aunt Mickey's house for turkey! This is where the only bad part of my Thanksgiving comes in and that is that at the moment my grandma is really really sick and so she decided that she would stay home instead of going to my aunt's with all of the little kids around and risk getting sick. This of course made complete logical sense since we have kids ranging from 15-3 months in our family now. So dad and I walk in to Aunt Mickey's to find that her stove has just broke and so all of the oven cooked food will have to be transported to Dawn's (my cousin) for cooking. This instantly reminded me of when we learned that the stove in the basement of Thomas didn't work and had to transport a ham to and from Gretchen's apartment in U. Court by walking. So the food was transported and I in the meantime finally got to catch up with my cousin Kim whom I haven't been able to sit and talk to in over a year. YAY! Dinner was served just after 4 and we were at capacity for sure!! Kim and I were joking that if we bring our b/f's next year they will be sitting on the floor. lol Much less if anyone else has babies in the next year ... which we don't think will happen now that Ali and Ryan are done having kids. No babies in that house for a long time now because either Katie will have to have another, which she isn't going to do until her and Gabe are actually married or Kim or I will have to have one and thanks but no thanks not now. lol It'll be at least 5 years for that one. So anyways, dinner was splendiferous and I plan on eating a chunck of my leftovers later today. A turkey sandwhich for lunch and the rest for dinner!! YAY!!! This makes me ubber super happy!!

So after dinner Kim, Jordan and myself go back to Grandma's to bring her supper. We get there and I wake her up and she comes out and sits with us and we hang out while she eats and takes her blood sugar and calls me Amy, and Jordan (who is Amy's daughter) Sarah. The three of us get back to Aunt Mickey's a little before 7 and my family is just getting ready to begin a game of Oh Hell. Now I LOVE this game. I was freakin' raised on this damn game! I remember sitting at Grandma's after Thanksgiving dinner when I was like 10 playing this dang game. So I quickly pull up a seat and settle in. We are my family's typical loud and rambuctious and hilarious and dirty group that we are and I'm in a blissfull state of Heaven. Secretly throwing up a shout out to The Man for letting me get my promotion that allowed me to come home for this.

Upon the clock chimming 8 I decide I finally am forced to leave to head back down here due to having to work Friday at 8 am. So my Aunt grabs us blood cousins of my generation for a picture. Well this proves a hi-larious adventure that leaves me running to the bathroom before I pissed myself from laughing so hard. Then it's time to leave. Hugs all around and a promise to see everyone at Christmas. And out the door I sadly went. Stopped off at the local Shell station to get gas as I always do and on the road I was.

Great food, great family, great laughs and too little time. I had a great Thanksgiving. The only thing that could have made it better would have been having my Jim with me.

Granted I don't have holiday drivers to deal with (my sincerest regrets Pam) but apparently I have been told that the first time I have the Friday after Thanksgiving off I'm going shopping in Peoria with Jim, Joey and Kathy ... this I'm going to tell Jim isn't even an option till I have a ring on my finger as per his mom not even 2 months ago. :-) Wow how fast things change! lol I love you honey!!

Okay that's plenty long enough. Sorry that all of you had not too good Turkey day's but as we all know I'm also the Christmas Crazy fool of the group so leave it to me to look past all the crap. lol *big hugs* all around!
