Just all bloggy these days, aren't I? Trying to be a bit more active in terms of posting, haha. It's nice to look back and even see how my mindset has changed over the years. Which reminds me of the question thing that I had a while ago... but anyway, time to talk about the CNE!
I went two days ago, after getting a shiny green Presto card from the train station. Met with
kyyte and mika_kiame and said a casual hi to Leaver who was downtown to go to her work orientation. She was welcome to join us later, of course, but she had to also pack for her weekend New York trip after just coming back from an England trip. Busy, busy!
At least we went fairly early. The shopping area wasn't as busy as it was later, that's for sure! Of course, we were there when most others were probably having lunch... haha. Snagged clothes that um, mostly barely fit ._.;; Time to do more exercise! The sizes I chose have been the same from the past, but hmm...
We saw Duff Goldman and his two assistants at 2. There was also a really cute toddler sitting right in front of me. She kept giggling and smiling at me... OK, fine, I was also making funny faces, but she really smiled whenever there were strands of hair in my face. I bet if she was close enough, she would have wanted to play with my hair. I've had children do that before. And throughout the whole show, I kept thinking that I knew her mother; she looked extremely like one of my past co-workers. I'm pretty sure she had a baby boy named Brandon and not a girl named Erin though. Unless my memory is off...
Anyway, Duff was all right. I really wish he dropped the poutine/putain joke though... it was OK the first couple of times, but after that it was just overkill. They made a French toast cake, but the eggs and bacon that were added made it look more just like plain pieces of toast for a breakfast meal.
kyyte and her friend did manage to meet him briefly afterwards though.
While they were in line to meet Duff, mika_kiame and I went for food! Bouchard's Poutinery for (what else?) poutine!
kyyte then joined us and also got poutine, haha. Then we went to get good seats for the ice show! While we were heading there, mika_kiame wanted to get through the crowd quickly so she sent me in front to scope a trail... Eyeshield 21 style XD She claims that it worked and while I'm not arguing against it, I'm not really arguing for it either >_>
-- cue interruption of thoughts as I went for a test trip to work; I think I managed to squeeze the last transfer in just seconds before the 2 hour mark! --
So, the ice/acrobatics show. We got front row seats~ We also had to be there like, an hour early, but that's OK. We managed to keep ourselves from boredom;
kyyte kept doing weird experiments with her feet... which mika_kiame and I mostly tried to do too. Some of them resulted in weird pictures, haha. Anyway, mika_kiame already saw the ice show before, so she picked spots on the other side so that we didn't have to see some of the skaters' stiff expressions, but it didn't work out too well... on the last number especially, one of the skaters was switching smiles so strangely that it was like her smiles were choreographed (which they probably were... but it was so unnatural!).
The little girls behind us kept guessing which of the girls skating before was Joannie Rochette, but I already knew beforehand from mika_kiame that the screen would say when Joannie appeared. It was pretty awesome seeing her skate. Oh, figure skating ♥
Afterwards, we milled around the Direct Energy Centre some more -mostly the International Pavilion- buying random trinkets and stuff. I got my annual frog item: cute wooden frog head magnets! There are four expressions: happy, winking, sad and sleeping.
Then we departed around 7:30. When I was waiting at the tracks, I was so happy that I got there when I did because not too long after, a huge crowd of soccer fans moved through the underpass. I would not have wanted to go the opposite way from them, haha.
Well, that was Friday. This post is long enough so...
I'll talk about Saturday's Concert for Japan in another post! Either later today or... just later.
