She carefully made her way to the observation deck, feeling a bit ridiculous in her nicest pair of jeans and a thigh length shirt (she'd left her best dresses at home by accident).
"Marcus, this is lovely," she said with a grin.

He was in jeans, too, nice black ones and a button up shirt. He wasn't the sort to dress up on a normal day, though he could have borrowed a suit from Hans....except Hans was a good six inches shorter than Marcus and rather broader at the shoulder.
"Always wanted to take my lady to Rome," he said with a smile. He took her hand and led her to the little picnic on the roof. There was artichoke fettuccine, bread, and a nice Italian salad. No meat, he knew his lady well.

"You did all this?" she asked as she looked around, allowing herself to be lead to the picnic area. "Marcus this is incredible."

He lowered himself down and started digging in the cooler (it was probably the least-classy thing there...if one disregards the cardboard columns). The wine he brought out, however, was of pretty good quality. It pays to have a very classy, rich friend.
Soon all the eatings were laid out and Marcus tucked a pillow under him and lay on his side.
"I wish I could have done more..." He sounded genuinely upset about that. "Especially after the year we've had."

She was content to let herself be spoiled silly. "Oh, sweetheart," she stated, her heart coming near to breaking at the tone in his voice. "We're together. Thats all that matters."

He kissed her on the cheek and then shook his hair back. "Enough of that, all right? We're here, we're alone, and I'm being silly."
He wrapped his right arm around her waist as he started poking at the food. Not to toot his own whatever, it smelled quite awesome.
"The next step is up to you. Spending the evening up here, watching the stars, or maybe a little hike and a camp-out?"

This staying up here idea sounded quite awesome, it would involve lying under the stars, there may even be sleeping. Probably.
