When in Rome... Marcus/Chelsea Valentine's Day

Feb 13, 2009 00:14

Sunset, February 14th, 2012The observation deck atop the Essex Mountain Sanatorium's hospital building was, as far as Marcus knew, the one of the highest points in the entire state of New Jersey. It was easy enough to believe with the view and all. Standing up there, you could see the land stretcing out for miles in all directions. In the ( Read more... )

How funny. All Chelsea could think of was she was with Marcus and life was good, too. A part of her was missing and it was very distinctly shaped like one Miss Fuss, but an hour long phone call to her mom helped a little.

She carefully made her way to the observation deck, feeling a bit ridiculous in her nicest pair of jeans and a thigh length shirt (she'd left her best dresses at home by accident).

"Marcus, this is lovely," she said with a grin.

He beamed and crossed to her to pull her into a hug, kissing her gently along her throat.

He was in jeans, too, nice black ones and a button up shirt. He wasn't the sort to dress up on a normal day, though he could have borrowed a suit from Hans....except Hans was a good six inches shorter than Marcus and rather broader at the shoulder.

"Always wanted to take my lady to Rome," he said with a smile. He took her hand and led her to the little picnic on the roof. There was artichoke fettuccine, bread, and a nice Italian salad. No meat, he knew his lady well.

Oh, he was good at those kisses on her throat. Her reaction was a soft sigh and to tilt her head slightly, giving him more room to work with. Her own fingers found their way into his hair, twirling it slightly and gently.

"You did all this?" she asked as she looked around, allowing herself to be lead to the picnic area. "Marcus this is incredible."

"I had a little help. Mostly with the shopping for things, but the rest, yes." He very gently guided her to sitting on the blanket. There were a few throw pillows at hand for reclining or sitting on, whatever.

He lowered himself down and started digging in the cooler (it was probably the least-classy thing there...if one disregards the cardboard columns). The wine he brought out, however, was of pretty good quality. It pays to have a very classy, rich friend.

Soon all the eatings were laid out and Marcus tucked a pillow under him and lay on his side.

"I wish I could have done more..." He sounded genuinely upset about that. "Especially after the year we've had."

Chelsea sat carefully, her legs crossed under herself as she watched her husband. She wondered if he needed assistance but knew better than to ask. He got a little funny when he was trying to do sweet things for her.

She was content to let herself be spoiled silly. "Oh, sweetheart," she stated, her heart coming near to breaking at the tone in his voice. "We're together. Thats all that matters."

Marcus looked up at her, smiling. He sat up again and scooted closer to her to rest his head on her shoulder a moment. "And I am very glad for that." No need to mention the missing element.

He kissed her on the cheek and then shook his hair back. "Enough of that, all right? We're here, we're alone, and I'm being silly."

He wrapped his right arm around her waist as he started poking at the food. Not to toot his own whatever, it smelled quite awesome.

"The next step is up to you. Spending the evening up here, watching the stars, or maybe a little hike and a camp-out?"

"I would like to spend the evening up here, actually," CHelsea replied, resting her head on Marcus' with a small smile.

"Its nice up here."

Marcus grinned and turned his head to kiss her temple. "Sounds perfect. It has an amazing view. The vista below us looks pretty nice, too." He winked and kissed her again. Three years and some change and he still couldn't stop doing that.

This staying up here idea sounded quite awesome, it would involve lying under the stars, there may even be sleeping. Probably.
