http://www.boingboing.net/2005/06/22/rottencom_our_gaping.htmlIt's getting harder to enjoy oneself sexually in the Best Nation on Earth™ because, apparently, the poor Christian minority feels threatened. This law purportedly is designed to stop the exploitation of minors, but it affects all pornographers. Pretty soon you'll have to prove that your models were never below the age of consent and just happened to be born as fully mature adults. Nevermind that this is far too late in the process to catch those who exploit "children" one or two years below the age of consent, and that such businesses (or those with money) would happily provide faked documents in the rare cases necessary.
Yep, I live in the land of censorship and sodomy laws. From what I've read, there are other very conservative nations out there that censor sexually explicit materials. You know, like the ones in the middle East. Even before this law, it's always been up to the government to decide what obscenity is. If your videos are too kinky, you can be prosecuted and forced to remove them from sale. If they don't have a serious scientific or artistic merit, they're out the window. It's funny, though. Penthouse (et al) has never produce anything meeting those requirements, they make tons of money selling obscenity, and the government doesn't touch them. Sure, some
hypocrites and
fuck nuts try to raise hell, but they can't seem to make a dent in the industry.
Hey, I though of something funny:
Asia Carrera vs. Andrea Dworkin in a fight over whether or not Asia feels degraded by her job. "No I don't!" "Yes you do!" "Eat my Mensa membership, Dorkin!" "Uh oh, I died earlier this year."
