I just got off the phone with one of my favorite Chicagoians, Fr. Joe Mulcrone, who has been a part of my family for as long as I can remember. Now, Fr. Joe is not your typical catholic preist, which is probably why he and I can have some of the conversations on life that we do. At one point during this converstaion tonight, he inquired as to the whereabouts of my mommy. My reply to this was, completly forgetting that: a)he is a priest and b)he is a city boy, "she is taking timmy to sleep with the sheep." Okay, so this was bad phrasing on my part, but what I meant was....she had taken timmy to the balto. co. 4-h fair because it is required that show participants stay with thier animals 24/7 or fairly close to it. So, timmy is spending the night with friends at the sheep barn in a pen roughly 20 yards from his sheep. In classic Fr. Joe, style, Fr. Joe replied(completly bewildered), "Wha-do I want to ask, no probably not but...catholic preist here, despite catholic priests being known for sleeping with inappropritate, yeah, okay not even they have slept with sheep." At the realization of a and b above, I restated my statement to which he further replied, "Your mother is doing what?! I never expected that out of her!"
Laughing, we moved on to the original topic of his call, the recent flooding of Harford county and cecil county and closed out the conversation soon thereafter. Any preist who can have that converstaion is an interesting person. Hopefully, you all will meet him one day, for he is a different person and doesnt use his position to be above us or whatever but is a wise person who I have looked to for advice and trust for confidentiality when needed.
