For those of you who would be interested, the pizza yesterday was amazing.

Classes today were bleh.  In my first course, Novels into Film, I got back my first paper.  I got an effing C!  A C!?  I've never gotten a C on a paper in my entire life.  I don't think I can attribute it to being out of school for three years either.  I've decided it's because I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE HECK I WAS SUPPOSED TO WRITE ABOUT!  The teacher never handed out a formal assignment.  He just said things like, "Write your comparisson of X story to the movie adaptation and explain why you think it is or isn't faithful to the original story.  So, while striving to do that, I of course got confused with no formal assignment to refer to, and got a C.  I guess the "good" news is that almost everyone in the class got C's... now MAYBE this would inspire the teacher to create a formal assignment sheet, but no, he just explains in class again what he wants.  And of course, the second paper was due today and we weren't able to use our old papers as reference for what NOT to do.  So, during the break I asked him if it would be possible to turn in the papers today but also be able to revise them to hand in again on Thursday now that we have a better understanding of what he is looking for.  He said, "No, because I am grading the first two papers with less weight than the last three papers so you can redeem your worse first two grades with better grades later on."  WTF?!  I want to get good grades on ALL my papers, not just the ones that are weiged more.  Anyway...

Then in my Transcendentalism course, in which I understand everything FULLY, take copious notes, sit in the front row, and participate in class discussions, we get our "journal response" back from the Emerson unit.  Now, it is my experience that a journal is an informal piece of writing relating your thoughts on the subject.  I did this and used "I" while writing it, which apparently for this instructor is inappropriate for a piece of formal writing and caused him to lower the grades.  Well, excuse me, but maybe if you TOO had handed out a formal assignment saying what you were looking for in the journals which are each 15% of our final grade then maybe I could have done that!  So, apparently, my informal journal got the lowest grade in the course because of my use of "I" throughout.  The grade was a B+, but still, for a journal response, if you've done the assignment and it is clear that you've done the raeding, you should get an A.  IRRITATING.

On the bright side, I got the last two quizzes back in my music class and I got a 94 and a 96.  Silly mistakes, probably from being tired and counting the lines wrong.  We had another quiz today and I'm pretty sure I got a 100%.  We'll see on Thursday thought, when we have yet ANOTHER quiz.  I can't believe that Thursday will mark the half-way point for this summer session.  I'm already exhausted!  But, I won't be going into the city or to any more Yankee games for 5 weeks so I will be able to be more relaxed without traveilng.

Tomorrow my brother and I are going to the Yankee game.  We're so excited.  I love going to games with my brother.  It's actually my favorite way to spend time with him.  And, as always, we get a great picture of the two of us together.

To be finished by next Tuesday I have to watch No Country for Old Men, write the three page comparisson paper for it vs. the novel, read The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and write a 2 page journal for that, start reading Atonement because it's LONG, write a 2 page journal on Walden by Thoreau, study for the Music midterm.  UGH!!!  I can do it, I can do it.  Mike's not coming out this weekend on account of Father's day so I will be able to get lots of studying done, since I don't have a father around to distract me from my studies, haha.  I do still need to unpack though.  I have bags of shoes and handbags on the floor in my room still along with a suitcase filled with clothes... My room is such a mess, I feel badly that I promised my mom I would keep the room neat for the summer.  This weekend will be the first opportunity to clean, I've been so busy!

I'm excited to get the books from www.paperbackswap.com that I ordered!  I know I won't get to read for a long long time, but I have so ny great books to read!  I ordered thre three most recent of Louise Rennison's Georgia Nicolson series, and plethora of other female literature including Bitch by Elizabeth Wurtzel, Summer Sisters by Judy Blume, The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd, Pigs in Heaven by Barbara Kingsolver, and Pledged by Alexandra Robbins.  And to add that to my ever growing stack of currintly 50+ books.  I think it actually makes the stack abut 60.  AHH!  I have a book addiction... too many good books to read in not enough time!

Wow this entry has gone on forever.  Sorry!  You know I love you all.
