Had plans to meet
queenmab21, so I took the car and headed to Kfar Saba, where she lives. We sat for a while in her apartment and decided to go see a movie. Since we went to Cinema city we had a walk around the shops before the movie and bought some DVDs (I finally got "Pretty Woman"! Yey!). We ended up seeing "Music and Lyrics", a really sweet movie that made us both laugh and go "Aaaaooo" and generally made me very happy and cheerful ("Pop! goes my heart!" is a very funny song, and the funniest thing is, it has all the elements of an 80's-pop-hit-song, including the extravagant style of clothes, hair and video...). After the movie ended we went back to
queenmab21's apartment where we talked until 1:30, when I was starting to feel a bit tired. I got home just in time to see the clock change to 3:00 instead of 2:00 (daylight savings today) Had tons of fun, and I'll be in Netalie's place again this week for dinner.
I was planning on getting up at 8:00 and be out of the house at 9:00. Naturally, I didn't, not with going to sleep at 3:00... Still, I got up at 9:45 and it took me a while to wake up and get my stuff, so I left home at 11:30. Managed to catch the bus just when I got to the station and reached Nahalat Binyamin at 12:00. Walked through the street with great difficulty, due to the massive amount of people who where there (no surprises there - it was an amazingly beautiful morning, without a cloud in the sky and light breeze to make the heat brake - perfect). Found a small present for Michali but nothing more in the street fair and in the market so I continued on to Shenkin. Though I missed "The Third Ear" (a record shop who has rare CDs, I though I might find something of Rachael Sage's there - I hate not having the lyrics to her music and it's unavailable on the web) I managed to enjoy the wonderful air of the place, being a very lazy Friday morning ambiance. Had some ice cream and then went and bought some stuff for my mom at "Old Day's Soap" and got a small vial of hand cream for the holiday since I'm a club member. Finishing the street I went onwards into Rothschild Avenue and came to "Habima" square, where I turned left to Ben Zion Avenue. It was a five minutes walk, but it was peppered with events:
I ran into four people who held up signs that read "Free Hugs" (both in Hebrew and in English, so the tourists won't miss the attraction...)
I saw the guy who played the character of Asaf in the movie they made by David' Grossman's novel "Somebody to run with". C-ute!!!
I saw a writing on the pathway saying "Osishkin will never fall". For all the people who don't understand - Osishkin was Hapoel Tel Aviv's stadium (in basketball) and they tore it down a few months ago (with a great uproar from the fans), not to mention the team breaking down as well, and I'm an Hapoel fan (as is my dad), and though Hapoel in Soccer is doing quite nicely this year, the basketball one was lousy for years, but real fans don't ditch their team. You'll find many men who'll change as many as dozens of women during their life time, but their team? Never.
I also saw a guy dressed in pink tights and bunny ears (!). I'm pretty sure he was handing out flayers for a gay party...
That made me smile all the way down to Dizengof Center (not that I needed anymore reasons to smile)
Did I mention I got to wear my black Spaghetti-straps top for the first time this season? *happy*
Dizengof Center was incredible as always, but I was running out of time (I came riding a bus, and they're meant to end some time in the early afternoon hours since it's Friday, of course). I managed to walk through most of the good shops, and also managed to find myself two cute short-sleeved shirts that can be wore for work or at night with different pants. Went determinedly passed "Tzomet Sfarim" but couldn't resist going into their new shop, who has the resemblance of a library (on purpose). I still managed to leave it without any book, an achievement I hadn't been able to achieve since I was 15 or sort.. I bought a set of cheap (but really nice) earrings and necklace and finished my trip with a short walk to the bus station, where the bus came almost immediately.
I don't remember when I had such a perfect morning, and my mom had noodles for me for lunch.
Oh, I'm so pleased! I didn't have time to go to State Square ("Kikar Hamdina") but I still had a great time, and now I'm home, with the prospect of still having half of my weekend in front of me and a holiday next week... :)
