Work, Concert, Shopping... Life!

Sep 27, 2008 10:54

I've bee spending the last few days with a bad cold. The works - sore throat, runny nose, coughs, headaches... Ups and downs all the time, so I've been avoiding going to my schools because I can't interview kids like this. The worst was (of course) Thursday morning, before the concert. Woke up with a splitting headache and nausea and I was wholly frustrated about it. I've been looking forward for this concert for a long time now, it'd be fucked if I couldn't go.

After two hours of lying on the sofa and feeling sorry for myself I went and threw up, and ten minutes later... Like magic, I swear - the headache resided, the nausea faded.

Unbelievable.

Anyway - two pills and I was good to go.

My mom was busy so I made sandwiches, and she bought like two tons of food to take with us. My dad got here at about 16:00 and we left at 16:15, picked my sister on the way and off we went.

We made it to TA at about 17:00 and parked like 1km from the place of the concert was held. We walked to the place and had to go almost all around the perimeter to get inside.

This is what the place looked like when we first got there, 17:15 approx., some three hours before the beginning of the concert:

After some ten minutes wondering around and assessing we placed ourselves on the blanket my mom brought and dug out the food. The feeling was very excited and time flew by.

By eight the place looked like this:

8:30 - Paul took the stage by storm... I spent the entire show screaming and clapping, my dad was happily drumming on my back and we all sang through those we loved - "Something" (which he dedicated to George), "Drive my car", "Hey Jud", "Hello, Goodbye", "Yesterday", "Let it be" (which I greeted with an enormous scream). I took a few pics of Paul on stage, here are a few of the better:

There were fireworks during "Live and let die", wonderful pyrotechnics and one of the show's highest point:

The concert ended with "Sgt. Pepper" and we struggled our way out with the 40000 people who were there with us. The car was far, but we made it and we made it home, very very happy.

Mel and I arranged to meet at 10:30 but that didn't work so we ended up arranging a meeting at 11:30.

11:40 I was in TA with my sister and my brother in law and Mel was still stuck in traffic so we went to get some coffee (Blicker on Raines street has a very good chocolate and almonds croissant, maybe the best I've ever eaten, and great cold coffee). After that we went to the center, where we walked around some until Mel called and said she was there. I have already managed to buy myself a new bag by that point... I said goodbye to Michaly and Eyal and went to meet a very distressed Mel, not to mention hungry.

After getting tickets to "Persepolis" (which finally got to Israel!) she had something to eat and we made to look around. Got myself a new pair of earring at "Diva", an art magazine and a notebook and two new "Calvin and Hobbes" books. Needless to say, by then I asked Mel to stop me from buying anything else...

The movie was incredibly amazing and both me and Mel cried through big chunks of it. I can definitely say I wasn't disappointed (I have this tendency when it comes to books I love being processed into cinema), and even more so - I believe this movie gives a rounder, fuller view of this story. Mel agreed that it should be sold alongside the books for the full processed.

We spent the rest of the afternoon watching two episodes of "House" and then I gave her a ride home.

It's 10:52 and the rain is picking up.

I love this feeling. :)
