So this isn't like a "reread the whole thing and pick out everything" review but. But. Since I have stalled forever. There is one scene above all others about this fic that does not leave me, that I have been working on putting into words, that shows off your mastery. The one that is always the first one to come into my mind.

And that is the confrontation about the body in the attic.

Rachel is terrified and expecting the worst--the worst being Terri snapping because she is crazy and killing them--and you can feel it. Kurt, when he finds out, is similarly terrified and you can feel it. As the reader, I personally am also terrified, even just having it drawn out within the time frame of the fic, even though it has nothing to do with me, and I am going no no no but I know it's going to happen inevitably. Terri will find out. Bad shit will go down.

And then Terri finds out.

And you, Adi, find a way to make what happens even worse.

Because I am expecting Terri to snap and violence at the least and things are going to crash downhill out of control and. And I am all worked up and. And Terri's just "lol whut silly babies, why you worry your precious heads about that."

It's not just cleverly jerking around my emotions, though that is part of it. It's... the kids have proof that Terri has killed someone, and Terri does not deny it. Terri is not even mad. Terri seriously cares that little about human life, she is that lacking in empathy--we are staring in the face of the monster, and at least she would have been a little more human if she'd been angry at getting caught as a murderer, because that would imply that she acknowledged that what she did is considered wrong.

And that is why you are the master, because this is you and I know you did that on purpose (esp. because you had the bit where Rachel and Kurt are "but what was her name" and Terri only finds it annoying that, again, they are not being perfect and making her life easier; Terri totally doesn't understand the significance at all, doesn't understand that there should be a significance). Thanks for averting a nightmare and making it even scarier with greater impact. Just. jo;iafsdfjlsd. If I remember nothing else from this fic I will always, always remember that. Terri the psycopath, Terri the sociopath, Terri whose crowning horror wasn't the things she did do but the thing that she didn't.

SO I WANTED YOU TO KNOW THAT EVEN IF I NEVER GET AROUND TO ANYTHING ELSE.
