My dinner:
Do you know what that is? That's broiled Japanese eggplant with soy-ginger sauce for dipping, and California rolls (nori, sushi rice, krab, cucumber, avocado, wasabi, and toasted sesame seeds). Big deal, right? Most of us eat sushi periodically, it doesn't automatically make us awesome. But in this case... I MADE IT ALL MYSELF. And it turned out okay. And it even tasted like it was supposed to!
I've hesitated on trying to make sushi for a long time because I thought it would be crazy difficult, but I finally took the plunge, and it worked out. The fact that I made reasonably good sushi tonight is just another reason why I'm a top-ranking officer aboard the U.S.S. Awesome. Admittedly it isn't as awesome as the
ice cream Yule Log with meringue mushrooms, but hey, not everything can be THAT spiffy. If I was that spiffy all the time, I'd have to turn into a complete narcissist. I'm pretty narcissistic already, but not completely narcissistic. Yet.
Gavin and Connor both snarfed their dinners, which was a big bonus. Sometimes they reject things they usually like, so you never really know if they'll eat something or not.
