Easter egg re-use

Apr 12, 2009 13:20

Having finished the Easter egg hunt in the backyard, I am left with eighteen plastic easter eggs. I can't keep them around because they're choking risks for Connor, for rather than throw them in the trash, I'm going to write a happy message and put it into each one (just small stuff - things like "It's good to be alive!" and "Be happy!") and then ( Read more... )

That's a lovely idea. Next year, M and I are going to plan Easter egg hunts for each other cause really, we're still 5 years old. ;)

Man, I'd love to still do Easter egg hunts! Looking for things and getting chocolate never gets old. <4

M and I also make stocking for each other every Christmas.

It wouldn't even have occurred to me not to do stockings for Frolic and I, LOL! Stockings are as much a part of Christmas as the presents are, for me. All our pets also each have their own stockings.

Love the idea, but be careful about how you word them. People are still coming out of their winter depressions, and a cheery enough phrase like 'It's good to be alive!' could serve to make a person only more bitter and cynical.
Not that you necessarily need to cater to those people, though.

Unless they're suicidal, getting a cheery message in an Easter egg is likely to provoke nothing more than an eye roll. And if they are suicidal, well, they've got much bigger problems than a message in a plastic egg. (I personally spent seven years in a serious depression and then three more years in a depression so severe I was barely testing on the charts, and was actively suicidal a number of times. BTDT and hope to never be there again.)

Very cool idea! You might want to write "open me!" on the outside or something just to be sure they get opened, though.

At a Thousand Cats meeting a few years ago, we did something similar to that - made all kinds of strange little art objects with messages in them, for the purpose of leaving in public places. One of my favourites was one that the_moogie made - a little purse made out of paper, very girly-looking, and inside was the message "You're too good for him." :-)
