Gucci, Gucci, Louis, Louis, Fendi, Fendi, Prada...

I am currently without a legal car. Because of the mysterious workings of the DMV, the change of address that worked to update my driver's license did not update my car registration. Once we got that sorted out (culminating in a 2+ hour wait at the DMV to be told the opposite of the information communicated by phone) I am still screwed until ( Read more... )

I love Coach purses! And they really really do last a long time. Good for you for treating yourself. Also, if you're ever in the market for a gift for Chrisber, Neil is a huge fan of their wallets. They wear like iron compared to other brands.

Weird, I also just graduated to a 'spensive purse from my traditional "buy something from target maybe that is the right size", after my old one's strap popped off. I got it and I'm kind of amazed purses can be made so well. Linings come in something other than flimsy nylon?

I'm just... sort of horrified by how much crap is in my life. When I sat down to think through the logic of it, one well made leather purse makes so much more sense than half a dozen vinyl and nylon bags that wear out so very quickly and look shabby pretty much after a week.

I knew Coach had a historical reputation for being very well made, but I'm hearing inconsistent reports of more of their modern items. Or maybe it's just some of their fabric style lines aren't wearing so well.

The purse that I'm carrying these days I paid entirely too much for quite a few years back. But I use it every day now and it's at least 12 years old, so good value in the end.

That sounds like an excellent value. I hope this one holds up as well for me!

(giving mad props to Vimes Boot Theory of Economic Injustice.)

I hadn't seen a name ascribed to it, but that is a really interesting theory, and, oddly, the second time I encountered it this week when some people on my twitter feed were discussing this satchel bag. Top price of $368...but it also comes with a 100 year warranty.

Also, it looks sexy.

I'm still considering saving up for one. :)

That is one handsome looking bag. I think that's what my purse retailed for, but as I said, it was on the clearance shelf, and it was 30% off on top of that, so I paid about half that.

Yeah, if you carry a purse, it makes sense to invest in a good one. Particularly if you CAN save up for a well constructed one that won't disintegrate in a season. I'm just looking forward to NOT having to go shopping for a new bag every 6 months. My style doesn't change that fast. Just as I get used to how a purse is arranged inside wrt pockets, etc... it wears out and I can never find anything remotely like it again.

Also, the kids today with their skinny jeans and stingy brim fedoras need to get the hell off my lawn.
