There's this small, quiet town in Turkey. It's (one of) the oldest town(s) in the world, actually, with remains of settlements dating back as far as 10,000 years.  But the history of this town is about to ... be history -- another city up the river has contracted European engineers to build a huge dam that would invariably submerge the ancient ruins.

What an interesting dilemma.  They could forgo construction of the dam and preserve 10000 years of history, or build the dam and irrigate, provide energy for & fuel the economy for the entire region.  Preserve history or foster the future.  It's a tough call, especially as a history lover, but ... I say flood the place, flood the past.  What are a bunch of old pots & pillars in comparison to life.

Day to day is pretty good.  If I had a choice I would doze in a sleeping bag on a hillside every night.  Cheese continues to be a stronghold in my life.  New Wave rock constitutes my soundtrack - The Cure, in particular, at notable frequency.  Coffee in the quiet hours of the early the morning is my favorite small pleasure.  The stereotypes of office chatter continue to reveal themselves as true.  The other day I was chatting it up water-cooler-style with one of the few girls in my age bracket, and one of the first things she asked me was, "Are you single?  I have this friend..." she continued.  It was funny.  To me, at least.  Typically I would never indulge that sort of conversation or prospect, but lately Ive been trying this new thing where I dont take myself seriously, and so ... "whatever."  That's my new policy.

Who knows what tomorrow will bring.
Who cares ?  Life blooms from decay.
