Paperlegends Rec #6 and its prequel, that I should have recced a long time ago...
OK... So as the title say, one of the two fics I'm reccing now is a jewel of fandom I read the moment it came out and loved so very much back then. I didn't have a rec list at that time, but it was a mistake, so I'm reccing it now. The second fic is from this_is_kelly and it's its sequel, but it can be read separately so I'm doing two recs. Theses are Merlin/Arthur Modern AUs (I know, right?)

A/S : Because sometimes happily ever after doesn’t always come easily. Because sometimes you have to hurt a little before you can smile. Because sometimes life gets in the way. Because sometimes when you find love, you have to seek its shelter and hold on tight. Because sometimes it’s worth it.
Shelter is a fic I loved oh so very much. Haven is its well deserved sequel, and it really stands proudly beside it. The stories have a very nice narration process: we follow two ways - first one is a few days of the life of Merlin and Arthur, at some point, and the second is all the years that leaded to these days. (I think this is when I reach the limits of my English, because I don't know how to explain properly. Sorry. Anyway it's brilliant.) The two ways are entwined - most chapters being separated in two parts, one of each way, and it's both wonderful and very frustrating, because you really want to know what happens next in the way you've been reading about, but you're also very happy to see the other way come around. Contrarly to many fics and books made like this, there wasn't at any time a way I prefered over the other. Both were truly wonderful. I could talk for hours about these stories, but let me just tell you they are amazing, their characters even more, the OC are fantastic, and you should really be reading this NOW.

A/S : A house is just Shelter, but a home is Haven. Merlin and Arthur have been together for nearly five years and now the time has come to answer the question: Do they want to extend their family beyond themselves? As they enter the world of adoption and raising children, they realize that parenting might just be the hardest job they've ever had.
This fic follows the wonderful Shelter which is absolutely wonderful so I really recommand you read it. But it can be read on its own (and you can even read Shelter after that as a prequel). It's a kid!fic as you ever dreamed of one. There's no magic, so it's about adoption, but the long story of Merlin and Arthur having a family and watching it grow and blossom is truly wonderful. The OCs are magnificient, and you really stick to the story till the end. A wonderful read.
