I told myself I didn't care for anything but the male and female single figure skaters... Next thing you know I ended up watching the pairs and a part of the ice dancing as well. I can't tell much of the difference between those 2 but all of them were so mesmerizing to watch in so many ways. So, as a procrastination here's a few clips of past skates from some that competed this time around. And I felt a need to post something like this after watching the exhibition (ppl in no order in particular)
Evgeni Plushenko
I don't care what ppl say about him being an ass. Sure he was rather a prick going about his quad. He's freaking epic when he's on his A game. You've got to admit he has some mad skills... Let's remember his happier times when
he was only 15, shall we?.
Daisuke Takahashi:
He's freaking art on ice that put Plushenko for a run for his money gold medal in the short program. I really wish he didn't fall, otherwise he would have owned that gold medal <3333 but who cares, he was so freaking adorable with his
I HAZ A MEDAL GUYS look so I didn't care too much because his bronze was as gold to me.
Stephane Lambiel
If Daisuke was art on ice, he is like major components pro on ice He has mad musicality, the most gorgeous spins and I can't decide which performance to use. Dancing to his exhibition tonight to "Ne me quitte pas" is making me go, "SVP ne nous quitte jamais".
Best of rest:
This is not to say that Evan Lysacek didn't deserve the gold because his program was also pretty to watch. I haven't seen enough of him b/c of the lack of paying attention to the sport in the last few years (no TV in uni kind of does that :P) Johnny Weir, you keep being your fantabulous self and Patrick Chan, I just hope he keeps improving his jumps to make him an even more complete skater, b/c your components is pretty damn good.
I didn't think that watching the beginning of the short program would really grab my attention, but as a lot of skaters that I loved to watch are aging, just like me, it's awesome to see there's a future in the new generation for more epic-ness. There was a European guy (Sweden I think) that skated to the House theme. I thought it was such a shame for that Japanese guy to miss out medalling b/c of a shoelace issue. But the most pleasant surprise of all, Brian Joubert (you are freaking fantabulous but this has not been your season) I think you can rest assured that France has hope into this munchkin by the name of
Florent Amodio I see you're learning from Daisuke well by incorporating hiphop to your Free skate at the olympics, very nice.
Ok so I got lazy. I always did enjoy watching the men the most... Pair skating was a pleasant surprise, especially with the gold medalist. They made me so happy b/c they seemed to have so much joy for the sport and they're in the mid-30s. They retired and came back and won gold. how epic is that?! Maybe eventually I'll post a women post. Then again I was already too lazy to post until the end of the month. So, I clearly need
this game if they ever came out with it LMAO jks,.. but this is so MADE OF WIN.
So, this is some of the things that's kept me away from the online things to do... I'll leave the post with this epic win of an ending (GO CANADA but this was too funny and I can't believe I didn't notice last night).
Look familiar? Yeah, it's that Abracadabra dance from brown eyed girls in that how to dance kpop video from the last post
