Take me out to the ballpark...

But not the actual game, because I live in Boston, and the only way I can see my team play in person is to fly to another city and buy tickets in their ballpark.

Still, I had to go out on the Green Line today, so I figured I'd go walk around Fenway before Game 1 of the ALCS.

The Sox flag flies at the Landmark Shopping Center across from Fenway.

The new banner in front of Fenway.

Yawkey and Van Ness, 5pm

"America's Most Beloved Ballpark."

Even the grafitti around Fenway is interesting.

I don't think I've ever noticed this sign light and moving before (the ball was revolving).

OMG they just showed this woman on Fox while I was posting this! Well, okay, they showed her hat...but it's her.

The main entrance.

It was cold and windy when I was there. Hopefully the banner over Yawkey conveys that.

This guy was awesome. He was wearing an OSU Beavers jersey with Ellsbury's name.
When I saw him, I said , "Hey! Go Oregon State!" and he gave me a thumbs-up.

A Sgt. Pepper-esque billboard.

Some people were able to get tickets, it seems...How long'd they wait in line, though?

This was the most awesome moment. Just after I took this photo (on Lansdowne Street), a ball came sailing over the Green Monster. It bounced in the middle of the street, and veered back into the crowd waiting in the ticket line. I managed to find the people who caught it.

"Uh...did I just see what I thought I saw?" I asked them.
"Yeah! This just came over the wall!" They told me. I asked if I could take a photo of it...and here it is:

A ball hit over the Green Monster onto Lansdowne Street.

A glimpse of the Jumbotron from Lansdowne Street.

This photo does not begin to convey how ancient this sign is.

Another 2007 banner.

I love this: when they built the Green Monster seats, they never painted over the directory that was on the wall before...

Red Sox dog on Lansdowne.

Another billboard, this time thanking the fans.

View over the bridge, on the way to Kenmore.
