I'm back!
I haven't posted or even visited much here lately. No good reason, really- mostly because I haven't been home for more than 2 weeks at a time since mid-June and life keeps me busy. And then I'm a terrible typist- writing an entry can take a couple of hours by the time I've checked and re-checked it (and even then a few typos slip through). This never happens when I write by hand- I guess I'm just an old-fashioned girl.
But Facebook seem to be easier and I have a lot more contacts there- especially distant family members.
So since June I've been out west to see the family (twice), to Scotland/Northumberland for a walking tour, Pennsic, the transatlantic cruise (chronicled on Facebook), Coronation, and last week Mississauga for Skate Canada. All of them were great, and I'm not complaining, but I am looking forward to being at home for the whole month this time.
Mom is still okay, but the memory is going, and I'm going to have to spend more time out there to help out Dad. My sister lives not far away (half an hour out of town) but it's not fair for her to do all the worrying. At least Dad is still doing fine. He gives us major scares, but then recovers quickly, while Mom is just in gradual decline. But he's 84 now - and Mom is 91. He can't keep it up forever either.
With all the traveling, I really haven't missed the job at all. I've been in the branch a couple of times, and several of my co-workers told me they'd get out if they could too. With the new management it's just not the same, and with the lack of staff everyone is harried. Not my problem anymore!
