A poem I wrote

Just paying the Bills

How she hates what she has to do, the things she sees.
loud, up-beat music, in a room full of negative energies.
the clients come in , droves upon droves, just to see women take off their clothes.
She watches them hand over cash galore, while she serves drinks and watches the floor.
the things she sees, kill her soul by degrees
but she is just paying the bills and buying groceries.
It's not a career, it's just scraping by
and the things she deals with make her cry
but she is just paying the bills, just making the rent
just paying the bills, wondering where her innocence went.
she knows who is cheating on who and who's getting paid
her feet hurt, her soul aches and her nerves are frayed.
oh, how she wishes she could find some other way.
but the rent is due and there are bills to pay.
