Back from the bowls of darkness....

Hey everyone. Man, has it been a hell of a week :(
Today is the first day we had classes; from Sunday evening to yesterday afternoon, we had no power. We got slammed by hurricane Ike Sunday, and a student here on campus was killed from the extreme wind and downed powerlines. Not sure exactly what happened, all I know is she was driving.
For our safety Sunday night, all 1,500 students were rounded up and made to sleep in the PSU (Presidential Student Union building....almost like a wreck room, but the whole building), boys in the small gym and girls in the larger one. I attempted to both read and text with Veronica, both of which failed. Instead, I played some cards with Ben and ended falling asleep on the solid floor....
Until about 6:30, when the storm died down and the sun broke. We were allowed to go sleep in our dorms, classes were canceled, and the day that followed consisted of crappy emergency food from the cafeteria and spending the day in the PSU (which, thanks to generators, had power....I was able to charge my cell and call Ver once I had enough signal). All day we had movies playing, and I even won my first game of pool in a while.
Monday night we were allowed to sleep in our dorms or leave; a good 2/3 of the campus left, and I actually had a quiet, if fitful, night of sleep.
Yesterday, Ben and I went for breakfast at the cafeteria, but it was closed....no food. So, we decided to go to the PSU and eat at the cafe there....called the 586....and hang out. We met up with my RA Joe and the housing director, Ryan, and got drafted into sawing and lugging two huge trees in a neighbor of Ryan's yard. They were an elderly couple, and I felt pretty good with myself about helping them :) To make things better, when I got back we had power!
....power, but no cable or internet. O.o Both came on shortly after I went to bed last night....and classes resumed today as if nothing had happened.
So, here I am. No homework, roommate is off with his friends....God of War II has irritated me beyond the point of wanting to play....literally every other room, I have to look at the strategy guide.
I am thinking of reading over and starting up my Star Wars fanfic again. If I do, I'll repost it all in a 'catch-up' post, along with the new chapter. It's not that I lost interest....just lost the time.
