Interesting question. And I had just started watching Battlestar Galactica recently too. I would LOVE the writers of the show forever if it turned out that everyone were frakking Cylons. Oh, it would be epic to end the show on that note.
And this is where I have to think and ramble a bit:
It's hard to consider a non-human as an individual, without personifying them just a little bit. This happens all the time with pets; despite being of a completely different species, human owners usually form strong bonds with them and consider them as part of the family unit. While not on the same level as pets, I believe that machines will slowly climb up the ranks, from tools that can be used to something close to a pet. And maybe in time, very close to what a human being can be without really being human. Or organic. Already there is a machine called
Kismet that shows basic emotion, so it's not too hard to imagine a full bodied robot in the future that will come close as any to an AI. But this is the creepy as fuck robot that I want to see:
Albert Einstein. As a robot. Whoever came up with idea of building a robot with his head on it is a genius. Or some kind of freak, but I don't really care. Man, can you imagine having a likeness of him in your house? Or of some celebrity/actor/person you're crushing so hard on but don't want your RL friends to know? ...............and damnit, this makes me want one of Patrick Stewart. My very own Starfleet captain in my living room. MAKE IT SO, KOREA AND JAPAN. AS LONG AS THEY DON'T TURN INTO THE BORG, WE'RE GOOD. Although there might be a clamoring for a Seven of Nine model sometime.....
