Uhh...wow.
So this cruise ship docks at a resort in northern Haiti, less than 100 miles away from where people are still being pulled out of crumbled buildings. The cruise liner insists that by being there and letting the guests (who are shocked about this) "enjoy" their vacation the way they had originally planned, they are helping bring money to the area, because "going somewhere else instead would not bring money to Haiti."
This is, what the liner claims, to be their own version of a Haitian stimulus package. They insist that they are helping give money to Haiti by letting the resort workers earn it even amidst this tragedy.
I dunno about you but if my family were buried under rubble and probably dead, I sure as fuck wouldn't be going to work. I'm glad the passengers are at least ruffling their feathers about it. Apparently quite a number of them are pretty disgusted by this "gesture." I would be too when someone is insisting a workforce from a disaster area still earn their keep when millions and million is being asked for through donations just to make ends meet.
