I mean to write, really, I do.

Seriously, tons o'stuff I want to talk about has been going on. And yet....here is my little blank unupdated LJ. And then, when I do sit down and write, I end up pouring out a TON of things. And I know none of you want to read the book of unabridged (and stream of conscious) Ami. Or maybe you do. I dunno. But I won't inflict it. Mama wouldn't like it. Manners and such. No, I'll cut it up in to little blocks for your consumption, yes I will. *smiles sweetly* (Yes, I know it's the same amount of STUFF. It just feels better. And I can categorize. *grins*)

First up on where the hell has she been is vacation in Williamsburg, as it is literally where I've been for the last week. Yes, it has been brought to my attention that I spend a lot of time there. (I only went for three separate trips on this past year's pass. I can't fathom whatever y'all could mean.) I like it. Like...makes me wonder why I went for an English degree over History kind of like it. I mean, seriously, they both have about the same rates of employment in the field, I'm sure. (Okay, the concentration in Theatre would've been a little harder to swing, I think, but still.) It's not like either of them would've prepared me for my ultimate career. (Though...might've gotten my foot farther in the door at historic sites, instead of "You're a park ranger up at Tallulah.....with an English degree?....what's that like?") Anywho...

Williamsburg. We camped. "We" being the parentals and the kiddos. And me, of course. No Shad. (Cause Shad and history? No go. We truly do sum up that whole opposites attract thing. ) The kids loved it. Ty got much more into the historic stuff than the last time I dragged him up there. And Pey made friends. They both loved the camping. Which is a good thing, as you'll see in the next entry.

Ty FINALLY got the hang of riding his bike. And Pey got the hang of swimming, WITHOUT any floaties, whether I was ready or not. And I wasn't. She took them off and jumped in the pool while I was helping Ty. Dad saw her and was swimming to her as she giggled and hopped right on in. My fearless child. She bobbed twice and grabbed the ladder, still giggling.

Oh, and somewhere in there, we did the Historic Triangle, too. Dad got the treat of getting to go in the Williamsburg Masonic Lodge (in the historic district) and a couple of very kind members showed him around. And one entertained Pey. Which was VERY kind. The whole thing was quite neat. Made his trip.

Me, I just like immersing myself there for some reason. I've seen it all again and again, yet it still calls to me. And camping just added to it. I've very much been on that whole finding myself kick lately (another post, another time.). For those few days, at least, I knew exactly who I was and where I was misplaced. And a lovely jump start to summer. I think it's going to be a good one.
