Research project: books with interesting portrayals of hard AI and/or interesting first contact
I'm looking for a few recommendations to give of interesting AI/first contact books. Extra points for non-white-male authors.
The first one that comes to mind for me is The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell. But there are people far more qualified than I am who might read this. (or who people who read this might be able to ask :)
