"That was an excellent performance, Helen. You've fooled them all," Christine Johnson grinned, pleased and grabbed the artefact from the back seat.

"Now you deserve a reward." She licked her lips and put her hand on Helen's knee, slowly creeping up her thigh to her lap.

Helen Cutter closed her eyes for a moment and savoured the feeling the other woman invoked in her every time. It was a pity she was responsible for the ruin of the future and had to be annihilated.

Christine looked startled as the gun was suddenly aimed at her again, angrily realising Lester and his team hadn't been the only ones Helen had fooled.

She tried to talk sense into Helen all the way back to the facility where the Anomaly was waiting for them. The short explanation she'd got from Helen outside the building had scared Christine more than everything else in her life before.

Her last thoughts before the darkness swallowed her with deadly claws and sharp teeth were dedicated to the two people who had betrayed her in her life.

Why hadn't she remembered the bitter lesson James Lester had taught her so many years ago: Never trust someone who tells you "I love you" only in the fires of passion.

The truth hit her like a brick and hurt more than the creature tearing at her flesh.
After they had made love, Helen had looked at her with the same cold glittering eyes and the same distant smile on her face as James had done at one time.

It was the same look she now saw in the eyes of the future predator...
