What Is One To Do

A question to be asked by many
To nonexistant holders of the answer
About the situation that befuddles even the strongest person.

What is one to do
When one's soul wants nothing more
Than to just lay down and rest
Weighted upon by the worries of the world
And a feeling of oldness has set in
Long before its time
But the body that surrounds it
Continues burning fuel at a frightening pace
Never to be still for even a moment

But where is a body to go
Without its soul?
Without the spark of inspiration or creativity to light its path
Without the whimsy and the heartbreak to connect to the world
Without the higher judgment to set the laws to uphold the order
That makes a life what it is?

What indeed
Is one to do

poem, life
