Yesterday, my KoF PSP game arrived, but I wasn't in to collect it. So rather than leave the package with our doorman (the afore-mentioned Shaq), it was returned to the depot and a wonderful note was left for me in Korean! After a bad day, this really pissed me off some. I was dreading today in some ways. I printed off a note for the UPS dude, in case he came to deliver it again after I had gone to work, thanks to Babefish it was in Korean and Engrish. I was ready to phone the Korean help line, I'd tried to sort out a re-delivery online, and was ready to ask one of the Korean teachers at school for help.
Then, as I was approaching the phone, nervously, to make the call, it starts ringing. It's UPS, the guy has an understanding of what I'm saying (ish), and he wants to know if he can deliver it now. W00t!
So, when I get it open, I'm greeted with a coupon for $5.00 off my next order *and* some funky little KoF danglers to go on my PSP too! That really cheered me up some. It's that kind of game related tat that there's not enough of in the UK. Sure, they have special editions, but they're always about £5-£10 more and you never get any cool stuff. Would you rather have a dry 'making of' DVD, or some little plastic toys? Or a pencil case? How about some little character danglers? Asia appreciates the collector-geek that exists in all gamers.
I'll have to share more about the game itself later, being a bit too busy right now to sit down and give it a serious bash. I had a quick go though. The controls are okay, not awesome but serviceable. Maybe I'm just out of practice. I had a go on '94 as it was first game on the screen ('94 through '98 are available to play! Yes!) and thought to myself, 'load times? What load times?'. Then I put on '98. Oh, dear. For a machine as good as the PSP, a load times that bad are inexcusable. But I supposed the budget for re-releases has never been huge - to profits are just too high. Overall, I'm really glad to have it and can't wait to really get into it. Plus, I now own legal copies of all the KoF series, from '94 through '04. Not bad for someone with only a PAL Saturn and without the budget to splash on all the carts for the AES.
I'm going to have to game through all of them in order when I get back to the UK!
Also, note my PSP is new 3000 model, complete with rubbery case for extended handling!
Peace to all!
