Another rare public post.
So, after being robbed a week before moving, you'd think some companies would have some decency. If Albert Hall Estates had told me something like "we know getting your stuff stolen must have been really stressful. Don't worry too much about the checkout, just handle the basic stuff and we'll handle the rest" they would have gotten great word of mouth publicity from me, and I'd have considered letting through them again if I ever make it back to London.
What do they do instead? At the pre-checkout inspection, I was basically told that they don't care what it was like when I moved in. If it's not perfect, they'll charge me.
ANYONE LIVING IN LONDON, THINKING ABOUT MOVING THERE, OR IF YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO LIVES HERE, EITHER TAKE THIS ADVICE OR PASS IT ON: STAY AWAY FROM ALBERT HALL ESTATES! Even Foxtons didn't screw me the way I think these guys are going to try to!
Here's the thing, though. The place was filthy when I moved in. Here's a picture of one of the windows when I moved in (click to make big). Could anyone honestly look at that and say they think that was a clean window? I have a few more that show ripped curtains and the sink from when I moved in as well. I so wish I could have found a good picture of the stove or the bathtub. Well, I'll continue to take more pictures in the future.
In the end, though, the jokes on them. I've canceled the standing order, so the most they can get from me is one more month's rent. Technically they can charge that anyway due to the notice period, but, well, yeah. Fuck them.
