The Watchful Eyes of the Duke

On utilising people's inherent fears to your advantage ~ a good thing. This is the story of a happy, if scary, old man. Other notable roles include his hectic beard and his rabid dog, while there is a short cameo appearance by the Duke of Wellington. Finally, there is a cast of over a thousand extras; mostly hapless students whose minds are ( Read more... )

Hello! me again. I just thought (mainly because you always write so much on my livejournals, and I realised that my piffling four lines wasn't even that) that I'd say some more stuff. mostly- or at least, all I wanted to say when I had started- this: I particularly liked "To compound matters it’s full of creepy buildings.." I'm not entirely sure why, but it pleased me, a little ( ... )

I hereby represent the left-handed minority.

Uhm. With my clicky neck (I just gave it a quite satisfying snap) (in both directions)... I find it a little easier to turn to the right at the moment, but I think that's more because I just jarred it rather nastily whilst attempting a cartwheel.

Good swimming thoughts, there. I did loads of swimming and seem to remember finding it slightly easier to breathe to the left, but could breathe very adequately to either side. But then I was forced to do so by my coach type persons.

How did you jar your neck doing a cartwheel? :S Infact how does one do cartwheels? Each time I seem someone else fo it, it doesn't look natural.

Maybe if you were right handed you'd have jarred your head in a way that meant it was easier to look left. I'm not sure what my point is there.

I opened this comment box with the intention of telling you how to do a cartwheel. What a bad idea.

Well, you basically put one hand down, jump (just your feet) to the side while changing hands (before your feet come down). And you move your feet when they jump so that they start on the side of the first hand, and finish on the side of the second, if you understand?
Anyway, point is, you do that and then you try and do it getting your legs as high as possible.

I've never been able to do cartwheels ;)

I'm inclined to try one right now...

...ow! I got my legs quite high, but I forgot about the hands bit. I've also broken a plastic crate that's lying in the middle of my room, my elbows are bleeding and I think I've lost a kidney. I did not jar my head tho! Success.

Hm. It won't let me post. I'll try again while I wait.

Woo! Triple cartwheel!! and a whole* hole through the wall :)

I think it's rather the un-naturalness of the cartwheel that facilitated my neck jarring. In one of the more extreme moments of a rather poor attempt my head hit the floor. These things, I am told, happen.

And I'm not at all sure if any of my attempted cartwheels were in fact cartwheels. I need to film it, because I can't pay any attention to what's going on as I'm flinging my head around. I started on my feet, and ended on my feet, with a bit in the middle when I was on my hands a few times. They may have been cartwheels. They certainly weren't flips, that's for sure.

Definately! In fact is that why you are buying a video camera? I'm also inclined to try back flips now :D and would if these things weren't destined to go horribly wrong. I have the means to film it tho. So I might...

Yay-hoops, two comments from you, that's intense. I would gladly start saying 'hoops' more often, but that I've got no-one to say it too. I think Sarah came back today actually, but she's got her exam tomorrow so I shouldn't disturb.

Most importantly though, hooray for my role as principle (online) Scrabble opponent, we should play when you get back from being 'away', provided you don't have too much work. We could also play Minesweeper :D It's a pity our online Countdown failed though, undoubtablly I'll try and ressurect it at some wholly unsuitable time.
