THE MYSTERY OF HANREI GAKUEN: CHAPTER 27
“CLASS! SETTLE DOWN!!!” Yamapi was practically screaming across the classroom. “HEY! YAMA-CHAN! STOP STANDING ON THE CHAIR! DO YOU WANT TO BE HOSPITALISED AGAIN?! YUYA! UNFREEZE THAT TABLE IMMEDIATELY! HIKARU! LET RYUTARO GO NOW!”
Yamapi clenched his fist. Isn’t this supposed to be homeroom? How come everyone is in such chaos? Feeling annoyed, Yamapi waved his hand and some sparkles whizzed in circles before settling on his table, revealing a loudspeaker appeared.
“EVERYONE SETTLE DOWN NOW!!!” Yamapi yelled into the microphone that was resting on the loudspeaker itself and the sound waves were so strong that Ryosuke fell back onto his chair, the layer of ice on Yuya’s table shattered and Hikaru dropped Ryutaro, who scrambled back to his seat.
“How are you?” Chiaki asked in concern.
“Fine. Hikaru was just telling me ‘YOU BETTER NOT CHEAT ON MY SISTER YOU GET ME?! IF YOU EVER DO THAT I’LL…’ well, you know what comes after that.” Ryutaro smiled.
“Gomen ne? Nii-chan is a overly protective brother.” Chiaki apologised.
Ryutaro shook his head and patted Chiaki’s head.
“Chiaki, Ryutaro, enough with the lovey-dovey already.” Yamapi teased them as he placed the microphone aside, and the couple immediately blushed and kept quiet. “That’s better.” Yamapi smiled. “Today, the Headmaster would come in personally to take a look at every single one of you, so please be on your best behavior.”
The Elites nodded obediently, fearing that their sensei will use the microphone again.
“Sensei,” Kei raised up his hands. “Is the Headmaster coming to address us about the disappearance of the academy staffs?”
“Yes I am.” A hollow voice echoed throughout the classroom.
“Tachibana-sensei.” Yamapi bowed at the middle aged man as he entered the classroom.
“Yamapi-sensei, forget the formalities. I’m just here to see my Elites.” Tachibana smiled as he walked into the class, taking Yamapi’s place behind the teacher’s table.
“Stand!” Yabu commanded but before any of the Elites could do as commanded, Tachibana raised out his right hand.
“Dispense with the formalities. Today, I didn’t come to receive bows from students. Today, I need to discuss with all of you about important school problems, problems that is SO important that I have to have this classroom confined.”
“The missing staffs have nothing in common, so it means the culprit isn’t aiming for any specific targets, thus, it makes it harder for the academy to offer protection.” Kei was reading everything off his laptop.
“Ah… for a student to know that much about the academy’s secret is indeed eligible to be an Elite. I’m proud of you Inoo-kun.” The headmaster praised him. “BUT, the missing staffs DO have something in common. All the staffs that have disappeared are all senior staffs, which mean they are the people who have contributed to this academy in many ways.” Tachibana explained. “I fear that the mastermind would harm the Elites first so I am assigning the Elites with an extra teacher. He will be in charge of teaching all of you the basic requirements you need to know as an Elite, because if the academy is ever facing a crisis, the Elites would be our second line of defense after the academy staffs.”
Yuto immediately raised his hand before standing up. “Tachibana-sensei, who will our new teacher be?”
Tachibana seemed a little surprise at Yuto’s question, but he turned to Yamapi.
“Yamapi-sensei, you haven’t introduced them to their teacher?”
“I’m sorry, but because our time table still couldn’t fit in a time slot for that teacher. That’s why-”
Tachibana put out his hand, indicating for him to stop explaining.
“Yamapi-sensei. I believe you DO know that this teacher’s lesson is VERY important to the Elites.” Tachibana said it in a somewhat reprimanding tone. “If that’s the case, from tomorrow onwards, the homeroom period will be given up to that teacher’s lesson.” He ordered.
“WHAT?!” Yabu yelled and stood up from his seat. “You can’t do this! Yamapi-sensei’s class is important too!”
“YABU-KUN! SIT DOWN!” Yamapi shouted at him. “Do not be disrespectful to Tachibana-sensei!”
Yabu refused, but after Keisuke’s persistent tugging on the sleeve, Yabu was forced to return to his seat.
Tachibana, who observed this scene, was clearly amused by Yabu’s temper, but made no comments on it.
“That’s all for today. Remember, the academy staffs disappearing are only for the Elites to know. If any one who is NOT an Elite knows about this, the academy will be forced to strip that student of their powers and his memory of this academy and anything that have got to do with his powers will be washed away. I do hope all of you understands the importance of this piece of information and I believe all of you will keep this secret safe.”
Tachibana walked out of the classroom before the class could utter a single word.
“Kuso!” Yuya banged his table. “Yamapi-sensei! WHY CAN’T YOU DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS! Are you really going to just let us to some random teacher who thinks he can steal our homeroom lesson?”
“Yuya-kun! Calm down! Once the orders are from Tachibana-sensei, there is no other way.” Yamapi explained.
“This is weird.” Kei mumbled as his fingers ran across his laptop keyboard. “Even after hacking through all the files without triggering the security alarms, other than knowing that he entered this academy as Headmaster 3 years ago, there is nothing else I could find about Tachibana-sensei!” He looked up to face his class. “This means, No one knows Tachibana-sensei personally, including the board of this academy.”
“Scary…” The class echoed together in unison.
“See? I told you! Don’t ever cross path with Tachibana-sensei. I might be a teacher in this school but that’s all I am.” Yamapi warned them. “Oh, and even without homeroom, I’ll still pop in to see how guys are doing ne?”
The class nodded as everyone held back their tears.
“Oh come on! This isn’t goodbye! I’ll still be in this academy and I’ll still be your homeroom teacher ne?” Yamapi tried to decrease the depression level in the class, which worked as the class burst into laughter.
