THE MYSTERY OF HANREI GAKUEN: CHAPTER 21
The next morning, the ELITE homeroom class was surprisingly quiet… or maybe not. The homeroom classroom had its lights all switched off and almost all the Elites are squatting under their tables. Yabu, Keisuke, Kei were squatting near the closed door and Daiki was waiting in the special room next to the classroom. Lina was the only person absent.
“Ne, is Yama-chan almost here?” Chinen whispered.
“Hai. I’ve just received words from the birds that Yama-chan is already at the entrance of the ELITE block.” Ryutaro reported.
“Sou… then according to my calculations, he should be here in 30… 29… 28…”
“Yosh, minna, get into positions.” Keisuke ordered. “Hanako-chan, lights please.”
Hanako snapped her fingers and immediately, a little flame was at the tip of her index finger.
“Is everyone in position?” Kanako asked. “Hika-chan, is Dai-chan in place?”
Hikaru gave a thumbs-up sign.
“Hai! Minna, later when Yama-chan enters, just do as we’ve rehearsed.” Keisuke ordered and everyone nodded in unison.
“Yama-chan is entering in 5… 4… 3… 2… 1…”
Just as Kei had calculated, the door swung opened and a figure stepped in.
“NOW!” Yabu shouted and Daiki grabbed the person and flew him into the classroom. The other Elites came out from under their desks and popped the poppers before Keisuke turned on the lights.
“EH?! YAMAPI-SENSEI?!” Everyone stared at their homeroom teacher.
“EWW!!!” Daiki immediately released his grip on Yamapi and went back to his seat beside Haruka, who gave him a piece of wet tissue.
Yampi gave them the awkward stare as his gaze went around the entire classroom. A huge banner with the word ‘OKAERI YAMA-CHAN!’ was printed on it, balloons were floating everywhere, strips of papers from the poppers covered the entire floor.
“Ano… am I interrupting something?” He asked as he scratched the back of his ear in shyness.
“Kei, what is going on? I thought your calculations were always accurate?” Hikaru nudged Kei and the entire class stared at Kei. For once, the guy with the superhuman intelligence got a calculation wrong.
Kei noticed their stares and immediately retorted. “Hey! Don’t blame me! My calculations are always correct! Unless something comes in between...”
Kei’s sentence trailed off as everyone turned their stares back to Yamapi.
“Sensei, you didn’t happen to bump into Yama-chan on your way here do you?” Yabu asked, raising an eyebrow uncertainly.
“Maa, in the matter of fact, I did!” Yamapi grinned, happy to know that he is actually answering his student’s question. “I told him to help me grab something before heading here.”
“Yapari!” Kei exclaimed. “My calculations are never wrong.” He emphasised the point again before going back to his seat. The rest of the class followed suit.
“Ano, did I do something wrong? Did I miss out on a party?” Yamapi asked again desperately like a 3 year old.
“Iie sensei. You didn’t miss out on the party, you practically thrashed it before it could even begin.” Hakufu sarcastic remark brought sighs from the rest of the class.
“Psst, Hika-chan, where is Lina-chan?” Maki whispered while Yamapi took attendance grumpily.
Hikaru shrugged. “Maybe she overslept. That girl is not used to getting up this early.”
