Gratulerer med dagen, lillebror.

Today had gone rather well. Though they had to cut the trip to the aquarium short, Valdi had seemed to enjoy himself while they were there. Valdi didn't seem too disappointed at the lost time when Sindre had needed to sit. And he did thought he hid just how taxing the trip had been fairly well. So overall, a success.

Dinner had gone well also. Sindre had previously acquired the ingredients for a traditional Icelandic dinner and had planned on preparing it, but Valdi insisted on cooking dinner himself. Sindre suspected it was more because he was still recovering than Valdi actually wanting to cook, but it was his brother's birthday.

And the brauðterta had indeed remained a surprise. And a pleasant one at that. So Sindre didn't mind not being able to cook Valdi's birthday dinner too much.

So here they were on the couch, Sindre placing a bottle of beer in front of them before sitting, wrapped gift at his side.

"You're an adult, now, by Icelandic standards," he said, nodding toward the bottles. "Alcohol seems an appropriate way to celebrate. And I'll be gone all of tomorrow, at Wilm's, so we might as well go all out." He waited until Valdi took his first drink before handing him the gift.

He waited patiently as Valdi unwrapped his present, refraining from speech until Valdi looked up at him, confusion clouding his face. "There's no prescription in the lenses; you shouldn't have any problems using them," he told Valdi. "But...like I said. You're an adult now. And we're...you're my brother, now. So it seemed...fitting that you should have a way to better understand what's all around us." Gesturing at the glasses in Valdi's hands, he continued with his explanation. "You can choose how much you want to use them; often, never, either way, it's up to you. But I've laid a working on them.

"With them, you can see what I do. The creatures, the energy, all of the more around us that I see. Only when you have them on--the working is on them, not you." Sindre fidgeted a moment, the only outward expression of nerves over the desirability of his gift expressed. "Gratulerer med dagen, lillebror."
