Recs from April (JL, SV, The O.C.)
Hmm. Haven't decided what the recs of the month will be on talkoncorners yet, but murklins is keeping track of updates for several of my favorites, especially in HP and Smallville. A good journal to take a look at.
Recs from April:
Justice League
No one wants to pull patrol duty in Duty by Merlin Missy. Cute. It's *always* a Martian Holy Day. *snickering*
Smallville
Pygmalion by newtypeshadow. I could've sworn I recced this, but looking back, I don't see anything. Awesome beginning, neat premise. A Clark-less Lex and all that entails.
This story is *so* cool-- A Little Spell of Death by serrico. Finally, someone tackled Marguerite's backstory, and Jayne did an amazing job of it.
My more conservative studies soon became the sole provocation of discontent; aside from the Latin tutorials--simply a matter of intellectual accomplishment in their social context, but of crucial importance to me in the practise of witchcraft--I found my domestic lessons wholly useless. Why spend time pursuing the art of the finest needlepoint when I could be perfecting the Animus spell I had found scrawled on a bit of parchment Mrs Evans used as a placeholder in her Bible?
*shivering* This story is *fun*. (And...kinda twisted and evil. But weirdly *fun*.)
Also, acampbell made me feel nostalgic for S1 with her new story. I still haven't even seen 75% of S1, yet I get nostalgic for it. I have to remedy that one of these days. Anyway.

The Best Laid Plans by siobhan_w--WiP, 4 of 5 sections complete. Clark is such a spazzy dork. I love him.
I imagine this would be an appropriate reaction to reading Jenn's latest snippet from Somewhere I Have Never Traveled. (Like, when she told me what the plan was, I was staring blankly at fruit in aisles at the grocery store, going through scenarios in my head, then not being able to sleep for a bit as I was seriously disturbed. I mean--this is one of my favorite SV verses. Can't she just...kill them instead or something? I'm not used to hating Lex and wanting to ply Clark with foot massages and cocoa. It shifts. The world. View. I'm all disturbed and jumpy and yelling, fix this! Fix this now! But I don't know...how to fix it myself.)
Heart: *lalalala* It's a beautiful dayyy, I'm skipping along, all is Spring-time and wonderful!
Jenn: I have chocolate chip cookie universe fic! *posts*
Heart: *lalalala still skipping along* Cookie universe fic! Yay! Oh yay! *clicky-clicky*
Three to five minutes later:
Jenn: AHAHAHA you won't need *that* anymore! *stilettos heart*
Heart: *flatlines*
You: But--but--but...
Jenn: *files nails all merrily and whistles*
You: But--but--but...
Jenn: Hey, didn't your heart flatline? Are you sure you should still be talking?
You: ...
I liked fashes' comment: It's like you burned your cookies. And this confuses me. Why would you burn your own cookies?
Why. Why indeed.
So yeah. If you somehow haven't read that yet, I'm sure I've helped make you...want to. *coughs* Or at least curious why I was having nervous breakdowns around pinapples.

I never heard of these artists until they started posting on sv_fanfic. So I'm going to rec some of my favorite pieces by nowhereband, but there's several more in their journal. The Lana as a Pansy-esque type girl is amusing too. None of these are especially work-safe.

Lex, possibly wearing one of Clark's shirts. Really. You *really* want to click on this one.
Then we have Clark. I like to think that Lex in the first one came home to that Clark and then things....happened.
And then there's one really hot Chloe
*stares* Chloe, you're making me want to write why you're...in that cage. (I think it's a cage. I'm going to say it's a cage rather than a gate, 'cause it's more fun that way.)
Finally, a Lana I'm really intrigued by.
