Chase is seated within the Leapfrog, staring absently off into space. The Frog looks a lot more like home now, all sorts of stuff strewn about, bedding on the fold down bed, wrappers and food containers just laying where he's dropped them.
But that's not what this is about.
See, before Chase left his world, he had a 'friend' named Vic. Who was half human, half machine, type of thing. And they'd had a long discussion one night, over a bottle of Jack, about a lot of stuff. One of them being whether or not Vic could pick up radio signals. Chase had argued that he had to be able to, since that was how Ultron took over him. Vic argued he hadn't so far, why should he start now?
So, the next day, when they were both sober, they started expierimenting. And found out if you broadcast on 1313.13, Vic would pick it up.
Which might explain why Chase reaches over, sets the output dial to 1313.13, and begins to talk.
"Hey Vic, it's me, Chase. If you get this, well, I'll be amazed. But why not give it an effort, right? Gotta try everything. You may have noticed by this point in time that myself, Gert and Molly have vanished, completely, along with the Frog. Whats happened is kinda complicated.
I had Gert out, trying to do the one thing, with the thing we set up, y'know? And suddenly we were falling, just falling out of the sky. The landing was rough, Gert got hurt."
He pauses here, to take a sip of ... whatever is at hand.
"Bad. And we got circled by these big hairy mutha fuckers. Like wookies on a bad hair day. She was still awake, but I used that vulcan thing you taught me, knocked her out, had old Lace runaway. I... Got captured."
Another pause.
"Met some guys in the prison there, Danny and Jim, interesting people. Jims a gear head, and Danny... he's a superhero. Was. They screwed him up bad, Vic. I had to resort to the old tough love approach. Y'know the one.
And there was a girl."
He shakes his head.
"She helped us, when we broke out. With the help of some other people. But she didn't make it."
And here he takes a drink, in rememberance.
"This is a dead world Vic, like, after the bombs drop. I wish you were here, you could make some sense of it. Anyways, Chase, signing off."
