Chapter 7

Is it worth it to fight over a girl? And lose our friendship? Kame pondered.

He got up and left the room, leaving the picture of Jin on the floor. The picture of Jin flew up in the air, as the wind carried it up and some of the raindrops fell on Jin’s face, making it seem like Jin’s picture was crying.

Kame wondered what to do. He felt frustrated and wanted to do something to distract himself from the truth. He suddenly had an idea; he grabbed his umbrella and hoodie and made his way out of his house.

Kame’s sneakers were soaked when he reached his desired place. It was… the boxing practice arena! Kame had loved boxing ever since he filmed a drama series called One Pound Gospel.  He got ready and started boxing. Then he got carried away with boxing and did not notice he was straining his muscle. Only when it started to hurt, then he realized

Ouch!! Why didn’t I notice my muscles straining? Kame groaned.

But he himself knew that he had been trying too hard to distract himself from thinking about Jin, that’s why. He went to the doctor and the doctor bandaged it. He felt much better but he could not do anymore exercises.

Why does my heart hurt more than my hand? Kame asked himself.
But he knew the answer the minute he said it.
Jin snuggled up on his bed. It was a rainy day but he didn’t mind. He kept replaying the pictures in his head about the day Asaka and he had. He smiled to himself repeatedly when he remembered how Asaka had kissed him.
After a few minutes, Jin’s face was already as red as a tomato. He decided to get up and went to the bathroom. He stared at his reflection in his mirror and realized that he was blushing. He slapped some splashes of water onto his face, and then got ready. He went to his room and looked at the sky. It seemed like it was going to rain. Just like he predicted, it stared to rain.
Jin opened his window, loving the smell of the rain. He remembered that whenever it was raining, Kame would open the window for him because he knew that he loved the rain’s smell.
Sadness engulfed him as he realized actually he missed Kame. He decided to drop the topic out of his head and sighing, he walked out of his room.  Not knowing what to do, he hugged his turtle, a plushie, Kame. He found some comfort hugging it as he got it since he was young. It was a little dirty but there was still the familiar smell that he loved so much since he was a little boy.
 -----

“Ano, Jin, you have many plushies at home now, you don’t need another one ne?” Jin’s mother said.
“No!! I want it! It will be my best friend forever! I want that Kame! “ Jin sits down on the cold hard floor and cries.
“Okay, fine. I will buy it for you. You must be good okay?” Jin’s mother brought him up and took the turtle and brought it to the cashier.
After buying the turtle that he wanted, Jin walked happily home while hugging his new best friend, Kame.
 ---

“Kame, what should I do? Should I give up love or friendship?” Jin asked the turtle.

Jin hugged the plushie in his hands and closed his eyes.

What should I do? Is it worth to lose a best friend for the sake of love? Help me, my little kame, tell me what to do. I am lost. And confused. Jin thought.

Jin opened his eyes. He did not know what to do for now.  He just wanted to be like the raindrops… falling down from the sky, feeling so free and happy. He stood up and went out of his house. The rain fell on his head, but he took no notice. He just stood there, feeling the rain on his head, skin and body. He had never felt so refreshed and calm before.

Thanks rain. Thanks for making me feel better! Jin thought.
Soaked to the skin, Jin felt a lot better and went into the house to change into new clothes. He rinsed himself and then wore his favorite t-shirt, the one with a green turtle on it, which Kame gave him. It felt comfortable as well as snuggly at the same time.
He sat down on the sofa and thought about it carefully. Jin felt alittle guilty as he had spent time with Asaka. Like he was betraying his best friend. He looked at the photos taken from the day he went out with her. “We looked so happy then. Will we be happy forever?” Jin pondered.

Jin turned to look as his photo with Kame. The one when they took beside the tree where they declared they were going to be best friends forever. He looked and his childish and chubby face as well as Kame’s thin but familiar face and sighed. He didn’t know which one to choose from.

But he did not even take more than three steps and fell on the ground, unconscious.

Tossing both of the photos aside, he lied down on the sofa and shut his eyes. He pulled his fingers into a fist and hit them against his throbbing forehead. Everything was whirling round and round. He got even more dizzy and he tried to stood up. Standing up, he tried to go to his bedroom to rest properly.

Jin remembered how he got this Kame and smiled. He remembered all the days spent with his Kame, and Kame once never left him.

“Okasan! I want that turtle!!! That green little turtle! The one with brown eyes!!” Little Jin wailed.

Kame sighed loudly. He just woke up and felt very bored. He had nothing to do on a Sunday and he couldn’t go to the beach again because it was raining.
