Yes, yes, I know copy-paste shit, I understand, my personal opinion will follow:
Rush & Me, Today [Jonah Goldberg]
I'm not listening. I have two pressing deadlines. But I keep getting a lot of email about it. For instance:

Apparently Rush is pointing out the absurdity in your praising Obama and not praising those who were directly responsible for the rescue by being absurd. Attacking you? No. Harmoniously contradicting you? Yes.
I think he imagines like many others are on the right that you were sitting there at your keyboard ready to hit "publish" on one of 2 blog posts. The first probably had a headline like "Obama & the Botched Rescue," and the other "Obama & the Rescue."
Not one word about the Navy Seals, the brave Captain, the Navy or the Crew that recaptured the ship. It appears you skipped right over those who actually made it happen only to land your praise on the one who could arguably have the least to do with the rescue.
How about "SEALs & the Rescue" or "Congratulating our Military before Obama Gutz-um." I'm just saying.
Me: Um. No. The initial reports said that Obama ordered the rescue. I wrote last night:
Good For President Obama [Jonah Goldberg]
He approved the rescue. It was the right thing to do, with no small amount of risk. And God bless the SEALs.
Then this morning, I responded to complaints that Obama deserved any congratulations at all. In the course of doing so, I acknowledged that the initial reports of Obama's involvement were misleading and linked to a post about it at BlackFive.
The idea that I am sitting by computer waiting for an opportunity to congratulate president Obama is, frankly, absurd. Is the MSM going overboard praising Obama for all this? Sure seems like it to me. But I'm not exactly sure what that fact should contradict anything I've already said.
Meanwhile, this email seems eminently reasonable:

I don't think you and Limbaugh are at loggerheads over the pirate business, exactly, you just have somewhat different perspectives on the policy situation.
In particular, I think Rush has one meritorious point: the pirate situation is cheap PR for Obama personally. Are the Chinese, the Russians, the Iranians, the North Koreans...is anybody going to question the US actions against pirates on a life-boat? The political stakes were low, which made his decision not to interfere with the Navy's capable handling of the situation an obvious and easy answer. And we like his answer. It was right. But neither did it take a brilliant mind to produce the answer.
So there should be limits to our enthusiasm for Obama on the resolution of the standoff-a point with which you clearly agree (you argue that it does nothing to change your views on his bad policy objectives).
I have a couple other thoughts up on my blog, FWIW.

All righty then: Rush Limbaugh v. Jonah Goldberg is somewhat better than Freddy v. Jason, but only mildly so. As Goldberg is the Right Wing version of an intellectual and Limbaugh's an arrogant arse clown....Jonah a-Go-Go!
I'll give Mr. Goldberg credit: he at least understands that the pirate rescue is something to celebrate in a Bipartisan manner. That fat drug-addicted Viagra-using bastard Limbaugh considers Bipartisanship to be "Everyone agrees with me on my bloviation."
Good on you, Jonah.
