Wisconsin State Assemblyman Robin Vos lets us all know what he thinks of those taxpaying Wisconsin citizens who work in the public sector:

The reality is they haven’t had to pay for these things, they’re upset about doing it now, and the taxpayers are the ones who definitely understand this because they get it, they’ve been doing this in the ( Read more... )

The truly horrible bit about his wanting to play at Victorianism is that this deficit would not exist if he wasn't trying to cut taxes *and* maintain the existing infrastructure, if without means to pay for it. Had Wisconsin retained ordinary tax levels this issue would not exist. It does not, and so a governor wanting to use soldiers on strikers is hailed as a champion of liberty and justice for all. His actions also violate the Wagner Act, but then the GOP only cares about Law and Order when out of power.

So the state can't cover a minor short term shortfall in funds... This irritates me. When there government has excess funds it's all "TAX CUTS!" but when there's a shortfall in funds it's "SERVICE CUTS!". People either need to be ready for tax increases in bad times (a bad idea) or be willing to put surpluses into future funds so that services don't need to be cut in bad years.

we definitely need to get better at saving money.

In my state when their were increased revenues they just started more entitlement programs. Unfortunately when the money was no longer there, it seemed the entitlement became a right, and we had to keep it. Part of the reason my state has a larger deficit that most states have budgets.

The problem is that CA likes to mandate funding in their Constitution. That's always a bad idea.

obviously your source is partisan and not interested in the facts of the case.

Obviously my source which is a non-partisan budget office is preaching reality as it is, as opposed to reality as the GOP wants it to be. Which admittedly makes it partisan just like pointing out mundane scientific reality like heliocentrism and chemistry as opposed to alchemy is also partisan these days.

Wrong. My source is this:

I await further rationale as to why you reject my reality to substitute your own.
