I'm not familiar with the Canadian Orthodox church, but bearing in mind how stubborn ours is (and we're a predominantly Orthodox country), I rather think: No, they wouldn't react in a more open manner.

Yep, and we have some pretty cool anecdotes about priests' wives. Btw a 'priest' in my language is 'Pop' ;-)

that would not make much sense, because everyone starts as a priest and then grows in ranks

or maybe they would have to suddenly divorce and stop fucking, I don't know, ask Google :)

No, the bishops are drawn from monks (who are celibate), not from priests (who often are not celibate).
