This story is weird on so many levels... Really, what does the right-wing hate more right now, gays or Muslims? And what does the left love more? Decisions, decisions...

There is so much of this that seems a perfect example of cognitive dissonance.

I guess it's clever to co-opt a few right-wing gay folk to go trolling folk who would find them offensive: after all gay skinheads are, if not commonplace, at least a recognised sub-group.

Me, I'm happy with neither the trolling nor the anti LGBTQ feeling of various communities, including the fundie Muslims or fundie Christians, Hindus, or Jews.

Given the amount of Persian same-sex love poetry, and the recorded historical facts of various Caliph's boyfriends and same-sex favourites, and that much of Muslim culture was considerably more tolerant of gay folk than Christianity for much of the last millennium*, it seems unfortunate that some Muslims find gay folk offensive; and maybe it is again down to Victorian Christian prejudices, introduced by colonialists - certainly that seems true in India, where C19th British anti-gay prejudices replaced traditional Indian tolerance of homosexuality and transgenderism.

*Which is why many Gay Englishmen relocated to Tangiers etc, and also influenced Sir Richard Francis Burton's concept of a Sotadic Zone which included most of non-Arabian peninsula Muslim societies.
