Shuttered: Belgian Soccer Fan Loses Model Gig After Hunting Photo Sparks Outcry

Well, seems like now-(in)famous gorgeous Belgian soccer fan Axelle Despiegelaere (bonus points if you manage to pronounce the surname), who L'Oreal recently "liked" and chose for their newest acquisition, is now witnessing her dream of making an illustrious career in modelling come to an abrupt and premature end.

Turns out, after a somewhat more thorough browsing through the lady's profiles in the social networks (Twitter in particular), some things surfaced that were deemed rather unpleasant from the standpoint of a reputed cosmetic corporation that's supposed to be upholding moral principles (yeah, really).

Behold the issue that stirred the nest:

The photo proudly displays Miss Axelle's trophy at a hunting safari in Africa, where she's posing with the corpse of a majestic horned beast (more bonus points if you manage to name the species over the top of your head). But what really caused the shit to hit the fan, Axelle-wise, was the caption she put there: "Hunting is not a matter of life or death. It's much more important than that .. this was about 1 year ago ... ready to hunt Americans today haha."

Now that is why we can't have nice things. After a barrage of outraged criticism, the cosmetic juggernaut were compelled to backpedal on their plans, and terminate any further relations with Miss Gorgeous Badass.

As has been noted here before, nothing is secret on the Internet. And if you don't want to bear the consequences of the irresponsible stuff you do or say, you better think twice before doing or saying them in the first place.

Which is not to say that all this web-sneaking by current and/or potential employers into people's online activities is not getting increasingly creepy.
