The way I see it, no one has a "legitimate claim" to rule over people, solely based on the luck of having been born into the "right" family. But then again, we Bloody Pinko Lefties(tm) are republicanist by default, so...

It ceased to be about ruling when Oliver had Charley's head removed...but we'll leave that to one side. All societies confer status according to their own values. There is a direct line between Marlborough and WLS Churchill. Whether that has greater significance than the line between Cyrus M. & Cyrus B R depends on where you come from.
