I find it hard to resist imagining this whole project coming out something like Rapture.

On the other hand, I also think of my favorite anarchist utopia, Port Watson.

Why am I entirely unsurprised that you would think so?

In fairness, I don't think it would be so bad a catastrophe as that. I actually imagine that if this project gets off the ground, it will be weird and surprising in ways that few people would guess at now, least of all me, a bit analogous to Dubai.

Nobody reading the Communist Manifesto would have predicted either Lenin or Stalin, let alone Tito or Mao, would come from it. Yet anyone with knowledge of how humans act in groups in trying to build state utopias would have seen that "Communism is Nicholas Barrack's transformed." Similarly Libertarianism is but Stalin's Gulag inverted.
