A libertarian seasteading project

Most of you have probably heard about this already. Peter Thiel, the founder of PayPal and one of the first investors in Facebook, has invested one and a quarter million dollars in the Seasteading Institute company, which funds a project by one Patri Friedman, a former engineer at Google. In fairness, I don't think it would be so bad a catastrophe as that. I actually imagine that if this project gets off the ground, it will be weird and surprising in ways that few people would guess at now, least of all me, a bit analogous to Dubai.

Nobody reading the Communist Manifesto would have predicted either Lenin or Stalin, let alone Tito or Mao, would come from it. Yet anyone with knowledge of how humans act in groups in trying to build state utopias would have seen that "Communism is Nicholas Barrack's transformed." Similarly Libertarianism is but Stalin's Gulag inverted.
