Berlusconi has practically ceased ruling in Italy for some time. Now he's merely an actor, a poseur. It's what he does best. But now - surprise, surprise! - he's come up with a giant "reform plan". Italy is a good example of what Machiavelli said when he said that when you overthrow a country you need to exterminate the family line. Have a bunch of overthrows of all those city states and pretty soon you have all sorts of ex noble assholes who think they can do what they want.

Eh, this guy's a clown and the only reason he's held onto his office as long as he had is that the Italian political system is horrifically dysfunctional at its best. He's pathetic, but unfortunately so are most of his would-be opponents and Silvio the Slob only has to better than his opponents....
