The answer is YES.

A recent study from Rice University indicates that 15% of scientists at major research universities see science and religion in constant conflict.

There is no need for them to be in conflict as they both have their own unique spheres.

The conflict arises when religion tries to influence science or scientific policy, as it has a tendency to do (or vice versa, hypothetically).

Or when religion proscribes scientific outcomes (see young-earth creationists who refuse to accept or account for adverse evidence, and yet demand an equal place at the table).

Science is the pursuit of truth. Traditional religion is the practice of deception.

Science is used, in some cases, for discovery and explanation of ancient artifacts connected to events in religion. For example, the carbon dating process done to the Shroud of Turin. Do you think archaeology in that respect is a good example of science and religion co-existing and which part of it is truth and which part is deception?

Archaeological evidence confirms biblical scholarship that Jewish culture was originally more pagan than people realize. The science shows something that religion rejects. Rabbis and priests insist on a forced interpretation of ancient literature in order to justify their own careers. Their livelihoods are threatened by science.

Their livelihoods are threatened by science. -- You mean like the Sarah Palin rant that dinosaurs and humans roamed the Earth at the same time?

Sarah Palin must also feel threatened by science.

Well I wouldn't be surprised if, like the "I can see Russia from my house" comment, it was something falsely attributed to her. But I'm sure there are people, unfortunately, who think that way.
