2011, year of the Michael Bay movie:

May 30, 2011 20:56

Is it just me or are there a lot of bizarre events all happening at the same time this year?

Let's start from the beginning.

First, there's been bizarre weather all over the place. There was the massive flooding in Brazil in the early part of the year, then there was Snowmageddon and the subsequent floods caused by it all over the Mississippi. There is also of course the giant earthquake in Japan and the associated nuclear crises caused by the Earthquake and the wave of tornadoes across the USA. And those Russian fires, too.

Second, there's been the Arab Spring, caused by the suicide of a fruit vendor which touched off revolt in Tunisia that in turn currently is sweeping through the entire group of Arab countries. For want of an apple a vendor was lost, for want of a vendor a city was lost, for want of a city a dictatorship was lost, for want of a dictatorship an entire region changed, and all for want of an apple.

Third, after many years Osama bin Laden not only winds up assassinated on the orders of a black Democrat but the real-true director of Al-Qaeda all along, directing it not from a cave but the fluffy cushions and comfy chairs provided courtesy of Pakistan. I daresay Mr. bin Laden no longer thanks anyone for voting Democrat.

So......in my view, the events of this year have shown that reality is unrealistic and is evidently being written by someone with a Turtledovian sense of humor. What are your thoughts? Do you think someone in 2009 would have believed in two years Libya would be wracked by civil war, the Egyptian dictatorship would have fallen, and Japanese engineers would be working stringently to prevent a nuclear apocalypse?
