LOL...yeah Cedar Valley..those were the days feeding my family by living off the dole of VA educational benefits. What a waste, what a waste. Guess a Harvard degree would have gotten me further, huh?
Maybe a 4 year business degree would have made me 'more successful' in the music entertainment business, but my 2 associates seemed to work OK.
I've got three profitable businesses, Lenny, and I hold a one-way ticket out. I am quite prepared mentally, and spiritually to check out when that day swiftly comes. I've made my peace with my enemies, begat my offspring and literally impact an entire segment of youth in my area. I enable thousands of people to be in a happy place every day and night of every week going on 7 years.
And I still have all my hair. And even at 56, it has not turned gray (except some in the beard). That, sir, is a miracle not recognized by your brand of faith.
What blessings hath your god bestowed upon your flock?
Tel you what, Lenny, I'll stand by it, but that comment was more humorous than vitriolic; however, it seemed to have struck a nerve with you. So Mote it Be.
Tell you what; why don't you do the Christian thing.
I had a long diatribe prepared, bu realized I am just being drawn into something not allowed here; back and forth bickering.
I know you must be smarter than that.
Again, this is not the forum to sink to rule breaking personal ad hominem attacks that are off topic. I am asking you again to save it for another post, Lenny.
It's odd that after using the expression "god handicap" to attack a member of this community, you're now invoking some rule against doing so.
It's similarly odd that you take a simple question about the meaning of this term as a personal attack. Are you unable to offer a simple, rational defense of your comments?
You've got a log in your eye, Lenny.rick_dayDecember 2 2011, 19:22:11 UTC
Sure are thin skinned if you were offended by a light rick_day comment, Lenny. To be honest, that is an issue between you and your faith, and not mine.
You believe in the biblical god. That is child like thinking, in my opinion. And that tends to make me question the intelligence of anyone who does based on experience. Take your reaction, for example...I've notice Christians also tend to bully when they don't get their way. This thread does nothing to contradict that observation.
Unlike you, I am not bound by taboos of god mockery. I mock your god through your religion's influence on my government. Don't get your panties in a wad if, after 5 decades of dealing with Christians, I form what I feel is a valid opinion.
If you don't like my opinion, by all means feel free to offer one of your own, such as the one earlier accusing me of making up stories in my posts.
Re: You've got a log in your eye, Lenny.pastorlennyDecember 2 2011, 19:30:56 UTC
So it is in fact your position that Christians, Hindus and Jews can't be as intelligent as atheists, because they suffer from some fundamental intellectual "god handicap?"
Re: You've got a log in your eye, Lenny.pastorlennyDecember 2 2011, 19:51:23 UTC
Ah, so you're not actually positing a "god handicap." You're positing a "Jesus and sometimes Allah" handicap. Well, at least now you are retreating from what was obviously an untenable position.
I'm not sure exactly how you'd support the assertion that Blue Laws are proof of a handicap that would put someone like, say, Monsignor Georges Lemaître at some intellectual disadvantage to his non-Christian peers. Can you explain the correlation between the legal codification of a cultural norm in the United States with the ability of a Belgian priest to think critically about the cosmos?
Re: You've got a log in your eye, Lenny.rick_dayDecember 2 2011, 20:00:06 UTC
No. Because that is a non sequitur to the observation, Lenny.
You are a modern Christian. Modern Christians have a god handicap. You believe in myths and are limited by said myths. Those who think along similar lines allow those myths to permeate our secular law system.
You, personally create a church and benefit from what in my opinion is delusional and sometimes dangerous thinking (see, Galileo, Joan of Arc, Bush2, et al).
I stand by my opinion. Clever words and word puzzles will not change my position. I've stated it clearly. If you can't understand, perhaps it proves my point.
Oh and your god hates fags according to many of your brethren. Just sayin....
Re: You've got a log in your eye, Lenny.pastorlennyDecember 2 2011, 20:24:08 UTC
Ah, so now we have established that the assertion that Blue Laws constitute proof of a "Jesus and sometimes Allah handicap" was actually a non sequitur. We are making progress!
I stand by my opinion. Clever words and word puzzles will not change my position.
It is interesting that you refer to rational discourse as "clever words and word puzzles." I rather thought rational discourse was the substantive means by which we explore and validate ideas. But perhaps I only believe that to be the case because of my intellectual handicaps.
No matter, you have now further let it be known that you stand by your opinions regardless of where rational discourse may lead us. I think that admission is sufficient for our present purposes.
Re: You've got a log in your eye, Lenny.pastorlennyDecember 3 2011, 04:18:17 UTC
I'm not sure why you are now raising the issue of my ego. The question at hand was cleary what a "god handicap" might be and how you might construct a coherent argument for such a thing.
Your failure to do so -- and, in point of fact, your immediate recanting of each successive position you've taken -- doesn't seem to have any bearing whatsoever on the condition of my ego.
Re: You've got a log in your eye, Lenny.pastorlennyDecember 3 2011, 19:20:01 UTC
I am not sure why you are now introducing the idea of wishes in this thread. The matter at hand was what a "god handicap" might be and how you might construct a coherent argument for such a thing. My wishes -- like my ego -- don't seem to have any relevance to this topic.
Omar to the rescueeeeeeeee. no.rick_dayDecember 3 2011, 20:14:38 UTC
Tsk.
Pulling an Omar icon is not helping you let go of this, Lenny. Edgy...but...not really.
Nor is this disturbing thread you can't seem to allow someone else to have the last word, dis-proving any hint of superior intellect; indeed, your diatribe has dissolved into schoolyard childishness, a hallmark of the 'dedicated christian'. Damn, more stereotypes confirmed in this thread than all of the internets.
Keep it up; this constant reinforcing my opinion that you are somehow...I know know...on medication? With every word you type...
It helps me feel secure in my position.
You do have issues don't you? Wait wait, don't leave yet!
Seriously Lenny, you Christians are so much smarter than us rational thinking people. Is that better? *head pat* If it hurts your feelings, then that should be explanation enough. Rational thinkers would understand.
Oh for sure, there is nothing god-handicapped about you, preacher. Nothing at all....
Re: Omar to the rescueeeeeeeee. no.pastorlennyDecember 3 2011, 20:20:07 UTC
No one made an assertion about Christians being smarter than anyone else. The question at hand is whether there is such a thing as a "god handicap." If you would like to make a comment supporting this position, feel free to do so.
But my preference is that you would refrain from casting aspersions on people who may be using medication appropriately. I mean, if I were using such medication, it would not be evidence of a "god handicap" -- or indeed of any type of intellectual handicap whatsoever.
Maybe a 4 year business degree would have made me 'more successful' in the music entertainment business, but my 2 associates seemed to work OK.

I, like you, am free to accept or reject it.
I wish you well, kiddo.

Just Christians. And devout extreme Muslims. They are pretty dumb too.
Need proof?
Blue Laws.
Just sayin' preacher... trust me, you have a massive blind spot here your mind will not allow you to view.
