Clinical brain death.

I needed to take a day off writing today.

However when I say I’m taking a day off writing, what I’m actually doing is taking a day off the novel. Instead I wrote a few thousand words on a horror novel I’ve been playing with on the side. This is as close as I get to a workplace affair, folks.

That said, meka is still trundling along well. Much slower than I hoped, but I always say that. I’m still surprised at the progress I’m making. I’m a tenth of the way through the novel after two weeks. Somehow this is misleading though.

Later today I plan on sitting down for a good few hours reading and maybe cycling 20kms. Both are excellent brain rejuvenation techniques. One allows me to absorb style and ideas and the other gets all the blood flowing around my brain. It’s probably so stagnant right now I’m clinically brain dead.

(I actually have a genuine fear whenever I go to the doctor they won’t be able to find a pulse or something and they’ll tell me I’ve died. I know, too many horror movies and too much imagination.)

So tell me what YOU do when you’re feeling a little bogged down and stale? My methods work for me, but what works for you?
